Let's see how this plays out on the eastern waters.
We'll see how it plays out for the eastern end. I didn't have great overall numbers last year but did have a personal best for me (10.3 lb) and a few others I was fishing with. Hopefully the wind cooperates this year more than last year. Every time I tried to get out it was too windy and wavy.
I took a ride by the SBH yesterday & they have everything torn up! It looks like they have a lot of work to do in the next 2-3 months. Looks like they are putting in new lighting & parking lots & roadway to the new launch area. Its messed up!
got there news letter on Friday they say they are going to be ready by may 15th
jeff

had to be 30 trailers at sbh sunday 15 were in the harbor the others had to be up the lake sturgen or pinehurst guys in the harbor were doing ok on good size perch
I took a ride to the SBH yesterday. It looks to me like a long way to go before it would be useable.
Rumor says the side docks are in at the state launch at the Catt.
I think this reconfiguration of the ramps to the back corner along with the parking being right there could work.
you would think they would have built bathrooms near the launch / not so a problem for the ladies
maybe they will have some portapottys by the launch
I heard sp open today capt joe I sent you a pm
jeff
was told today there is a can am bass turny at safe harbor sat and sun and they will be useing the new ramps and parking lot
Daughter has a volleyball tourney in buffalo this weekend thinking about bringing up the ranger to fish for walleye. I know Erie well from pa to ohio never fished New York. Any advice anyone can pm. i can jig or troll. Trolling have a arsenal of reef runners, bandits and p10's. Just looking for what port has the best option. Thanks
You may do well with the night bite on the weekend if the lake clears up and the Catt quits dumping muddy water in.
I was at Charlies Boat House for a bite earlier today. There is still a lot of work to do before opening day Monday the 15 th. It was hard to see but there could have been floating docks by the new cement launch / retrieve boat ramps. ?? There were a few boats launching by the restaurant ramps. There were two in the water but limited parking.
That is probably best for me. Her games will be all day so I can play at night. Thanks for the reply.
Did everyone enjoy the Perch Tournament yesterday. :(
It was cancelled. Weather
Someone was happy about it. Long story. Darn Fishkiller.
The snow ball bush is in full bloom, the time is right!
Joe you should know I'm so good I can win a tournament without even catching a fish.....lol
Launched out of the Catt Saturday.
Did a scouting mission first and ran out deep right away to 90 FOW.
Looked around a bit and didn't see anything but really didn't expect to this early.
Then came back in and stopped and looked around here and there at various depths.
When we got into 65 FOW or so we saw a few marks finally and set rods.
2 boards - one with 6 colors (I know - too much) and one with a 4oz clip weight (again, I know - too much), 2 dipseys set at #3, and the 2 downriggers were set right on the bottom.
The riggers popped here and there but nothing.
I had something small on once but it quickly got off.
Probably perch simply holding on to the crawler and never getting hooked.
And it wasn't bottom as we always made sure the cannonballs were about 3-5 ft above the bottom as we could see them on the graph.
Ran a lot of water from the Catt all the way to PB and into 35 FOW.
About noon, after trolling for well over 4 hrs, we pulled lines and called it quits.
At one point I yanked the 6 color and tossed out a firetiger Rapala without any weight and ran it 150' back of the board.
Should have done this to start off with, and probably should have worked closer to shore too.
But my buddy Jeff worked Evans Bar pretty hard and he didn't get anything either.
Who knows?
Coulda done shallow and got nothing, and then wished I had gone deep to investigate.
There was a HUGE mayfly hatch Friday night Saturday morning.
We ate a LOT of those bugs - lol
As I'm sure the fish did too.
We will get them next weekend.
