We had some East wind recently......... did that wind move any cooler water to the area off Sturgeon Point? Does an East wind historically move some of the cooler water back towards Buffalo, along with bait/walleyes?

unfortunately there is no cool water anywhere in New York State it is actually warmer on the bottom then it is on the surface buy a few degrees. pretty much the whole eastern basin is very warm that is why the fish are scattered throughout the water column and west of the catt.
For anyone using Torpedo divers. At what point do you attach the Diver? How many feet out as you let the lure into the water?
Dennis
50-75ft is the program we run.
Thanks guys. I'm running them out there for the first time tomorrow. I'm going out of the Catt to 85 - 95 FOW and trolling west toward Dunkirk. Thoughts?
Fished thursday west of meyers reef in 36-42 ft caught 6 17-20 inchers. Lots of silver bass and a few smallies. Waves really picked up semed like 4-5 footers coming back in.All walley on purple harnesses, none on stick baits. small dypsies 120-145 back on a 3 setting.
Fished out of Dunkirk Sunday. Ended up by Perina. Got 12 large eyes. 90 to 105 ft. A beautiful day. All on worm harnesses. Riggers and deep 6 divers.:D
Fished out if Sturgeon Pt. today. In the shipping channel. Boxed 5. Lost a nice one at the boat. All on worm harnesses. 10 & 7 color, down rigger and dipsys. Nothing off jets.
Put 10 in our box + a steelhead Sunday off Dunkirk. Lost electronics after about an hour so we fished in the pack with 9-10 color. To what depth?..deeper then 60' or 10 color depth because we didn't drag bottom...lol. Sounded like everyone was catching some fish on the radio.
I hope to be heading out in the late afternoon, early evening on Wednesday this week. Be just about my first time out since major surgery last summer.
I will be launching from the SBH......I was planning on heading out to either Seneca Shoals near the fence or Meyer's. Any suggestions as to depth I should be looking at? Are they suspended or near the bottom in general for this that have been out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Matt
I forgot to mention. The fish were smaller today. Also congratulations to the Fish Wisperer. I understand he single handling boxed out.
Fished straight out of Dunkirk on Sunday. Stayed between 90 and 100 Fow. Boxed 6 eyes and lost 1 laker at the boat! Caught them all on sticks, with the riggers set between 65 and 80 feet. Two of the eyes came in on 10 color lead core. We also caught a bunch of silver bass that were up a little higher in the water column. It was a pretty fun and action packed day!

My buddy fished out of the SBH Sunday Am & got a 2 man limit on the fence in 55 fow. on sticks & harnesses. all fish were 4-6 #'s
Fished from Dunkirk to Portland water ball, 75-109 fow. Ended up with 9 eyes & 2 steelies also dropped 3 fish. Greens ,firetigers, & purples worked. Riggers, dipseys , 8 & 10 color LC (finally for me with no tangles)!lol Beautiful day on the water!
We picked up 4 walleye Saturday off Perina off Dunkirk close to the line. Not many fish on the screen. ???
Picked 8 walleye up out of Sturgeon Pt. yesterday. Saw many fish on the screen. Lead core, jets, dipsys, downrigger all worked. We were out in the shipping channel.
Good day yesterday out of the Catt (NW). Caught 5 walleye (green antifreeze was the hot color), 1 perch and 5 silver bass. 79fow on #1 dipsy with a ring set to zero and 180ft out. Marked a lot of fish between 73ft and 83 ft. Best day ever fishing solo.
We fished west of the Catt (36/15-35/20) 85-95 feet we boxed 10 yesterday. Bay Rats on the rigger 7&10 color, and harnesses on 7,8,&10 color also. All programs caught fish we had 4 between 8.3 and 8.8 pounds the rest were perfect 17-19" eaters. No sheeps (we haven't caught 1 yet this year) and 3 silvers.
Wind :( Wind:( Wind:(
Where the heck is Bailey????
We picked up 3 yesterday out on the line west of Sturgeon Point. What I saw on the graph last Sunday was GONE yesterday. And it was pretty bumpy out there in the am.
Any reports from Dunkirk or cat area?
Deep Deep Deep. Got limit this morning. 10 color with 3oz lead. Downriver @ 75. Dipstick 1 setting 150. 3 setting 220
Sorry 100 to 110 ft. Just west of Harbor.
Finally got out today for some eye's and got my limit. Fished between Cat and Dunkirk in 73 fow. The screen was loaded non stop. All the fish I got were 3-4 lbs. No monsters but good eaters. All were hugging the bottom. I just ran 2 riggers deep and popped um every once in a while. Black/purple and hot pink harnesses. Hope to get back out tomorrow. Time for a redneck surf and turf....venison steak and nice walleye fillet....Good Luck.
Anybody have any luck closer to Buffalo? I am heading out in the AM Monday. I will check back here tomorrow before I leave.
Thanks,
Matt
Fished again between Cat & Dunkirk, 70-80 fow. Marked fish steadily and got limit again. Most were 18"-22". A few were about 26". All on harnesses. Hope the fish stick around for a while cause I can't get back out till Friday. Good Luck!!!
Forgot to mention . We went out of Dunkirk in Eddie's boat. Off Perina 98 - 105 ft of water. Got 10 big ones. Lost a few also. Nice day to be out.
Thanks CaptainJoe.....yes I am pumped. All I know is that, I'm going to have to learn more about the lead line or get electric riggers one of these days cause hand cranking those riggers is getting old quick...lol. Had a rookie out with me yesterday so it was an adventure letting him drive while I took care of lines. Keeping a boat straight is sure hard for some folks...lol.
i dont post every day but when i do its from the nite side been pretty slow most of the summer but been picking up last 2 weeks. picked up 10 and dropped a couple thurs by midnite/ best bite in awhile .
I haven't walleye fished in a couple of weeks everything is west going to do the night thing soon even the bass fishing is horrible

Does the walleye fishing out of SP/Catt/Dun/Bar remain fairly good through September and October? Is any port traditionally better as the water starts to cool?
Sparrow - Traditionally the walleye fishing stays good thru the end of September until the Eastern Basin gets that one big blow that seems to make the lake all one temperature. Once that happens, the fishing is a bit more difficult due to the fish being spread out thru the water column. Years ago I was catching walleye after the blow with 109 feet of cable out on the riggers. Bottom line - walleye are still catchable in the Fall, just a bit difficult to pinpoint where they are at in the water column.
Seen this old steamboat yesterday on it's way to buffalo.
