Hi guys, any recent walleye reports from sturgen or the Catt area? Thanks!!!
Haven't fished Erie since spring, anything going on at all out of Buffalo? Cant get my boat on and off of my boat lift at Chautauqua because the waters so low, so looking for somewhere to possibly get on some fish. ANY info greatly appreciated.
John
Any place in NY from Sturgeon Point west if you want walleye, perch, lake trout.
Had a good day out of sturgen 6 for 8 all off harnesses/ Dipseys. 62-70'
Ice addict, go out of Barcelona from where your at. You will be rewarded!
Fished out of Sturgeon Pt. yesterday. Picked up 12 walleye. Nice eaters. Some, who has caught MANY fish in the past had a first and made his day. He caught a walleye off a downrigger. The fish didn't release it, there was no prior indication that it was on, but when went to pull up lines when we were done for the day it was on. He has many alias - A. W. , " The Fish Wisperer ". :D The fight was on and he won. That made for # 12 so we could all divide the fish equally.
May want to check around 42/10 - 43/11
Picked up a limit out of Sturgeon, near the line. All between 17-21". #1 dipsy divers, set on 1, run ~150 back. Firetail harnesses, running at 1.8-2 mph.
Thanks guys, became ill, never made it out. But still had to go to camp to pull my lift out of the water. closing down next weekend, then hopefully I an get out there and get on some fall Eyes and Perch. Never did the fall Sturgeon Perch thing, heard it can be great. After the DISMAL Eye action on Chautauqua this summer I need some action! Caught 8 nice keepers, dumped about a dozen or so keepers at the boat or damn near it, and caught about 20-30 fish between 10" and 17", casted about 740,000 times, and logged in about 300 hours......Bad, bad, bad. The most disturbing thing I noticed out there this year is the staggering numbers of Cormorant. They are pretty much out of control now, I have a REAL BAD feeling about that lake. They've decimated other lakes before, lakes that were MUCH bigger than Chautauqua! Everyone on the lake I talked to were saying this is the worst year they have ever seen out there in all their lives, I fear it may already be to late. Everyone has their theories there as to why the fishing stunk this year, that's mine. Chautauqua has always been a test tube for a million people who have nothing but their own agendas at heart, and somehow she has always managed to stay a viable fishery, but this problem is something that is out of anyone's control, except of course our state , which is basically useless anyway. Status quo here in NY, wait till it's to late, then try to fix it. That's what they did on Oneida Lake, waited till the lake was a dead sea , THEN funded cormorant control. Took nearly 15 years to bounce back, then in 2014 they cut funding. The same thing will surely happen again if left unchecked. As for Chautauqua Lake? I have a bad feeling the only thing you will be able to catch there is those stupid Muskies and swarms of dink perch. I hope I'm wrong.
Thanks for listening to my rant...

Started fishing for Perch out of the Catt sunday am, but only ended up with 3. At about 11 am we switched to trolling and ended up with 5 eyes and a couple more dropped. All came at 74-78 fow . Had good marks up to 82fow. Outside diseys set at 175 and inside set at 153. All on blue chatter sticks, blue and green harness, and black and pink harness.
Have gone up to the GTA on the QEW through Hamilton? Just as you approach the Bay bridge the break walls and islands painted white by those birds. From the rocks to the defoliated trees they park themselves on. So it's all over. At least they won't choke on any microbeads.
Thanks Captian Joe, it's all bad.
Anyone want to go drift fishing????
Wind, wind, rain, rain, wind, wind, etc.
Anchor wheel - you like it rough.
I will go I do some of my best fishing with the east wind lol
I went by the Small Boat Harbor yesterday and there were many( 30 + ) cars and trucks with empty trailers. Ok - who was out there?
I was and it was beautiful out there. In fact I got too hot, can you believe it! All docks were still in for both A and B sites, it sure was nice to see that, I seem to remember small boat harbor yanking a lot of them out with a lot of nice days yet to fish. Crews were removing slips while I was there, interesting how they pull out a big chunk at a time. First time out for me this year, only trolled for 1/2 hour or so by windmills with a renosky didn't catch anything. Planning on getting out more next year for some walleye action.
I see 3-4 boats trolling by the middle gap inside the harbour every day I drive by around 3 30 ish bad year to put the boat away early lol

Happy thanksgiving all!!!!
;)
happy turkey day
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
The days are getting l o n g e r . :o
The weather buoy is down.
I wonder if its for the season? There are still lake freighters out there.
I believe the lake freighters stop around early November.
I was wondering if anyone was going to be the first to say they were perch fishing on open lk Erie water on X-mas day in 50* temps.!
Freighters are still running just looked at the vessel tracking web page there are still a bunch out there. as long as the lakes stay open they will run.
A lot of the lake boats are actually weather stations them self.
Merry Christmas everyone !;)
