Spreader straight down just off the bottom, no bling and d a juicy night crawler. The worm harness is cast and drift out 20 yards or so, with a light weight and gold small blade with same night crawlers (I have used shiners too for both setups.)
The erie dearie is cast and reel back bouncing off the bottom as I go keeping the tension on the line so I can feel the hits. Have had several times a hit would happen and not hook up but the eyes follow and finally chomp on it.

I have a rope system on the back engine cowling that keeps the pole safe from taking a swim into the lake.

The best conditions are a .5 to .7 mph drift.

If you would like I can take a photo of the set up next time I am out to give you the visual of poles and ropes.

Good questions,
be safe.
