Re: Water Dog ~ Tuesday May 12th~ more eyes
Late start today, out of the Portage river.
NW to the pack area, 15 fow, crawlers on a spreader, on a gold erie dearie and a gold worm harness.
4 head boats in the area , two went in before noon so they must on them. 3 keepers today, one lost at the boat and 3 returns unharmed. 4 farm animals, 6 white perch (careful they are squirting) one yellow gold keeper.
Come get yours soon!

Water Dog
Is a green white 22 ft Trophy Pro ,
I have a great reverence to my late Father who showed me how to fish.
His pole is the fist in and the last out, today he caught the biggest eye.
I post here to share what my father had taught me so others can enjoy this sport.
I hope others can learn and share with their children.
Be safe, (wear that life jacket)

How do you run a spreader with an erie and a harness without getting them tangled? Do you just drop it down and let it drift while you are using another pole?

Re: Water Dog ~ Tuesday May 12th~ more eyes
Spreader straight down just off the bottom, no bling and d a juicy night crawler. The worm harness is cast and drift out 20 yards or so, with a light weight and gold small blade with same night crawlers (I have used shiners too for both setups.)
The erie dearie is cast and reel back bouncing off the bottom as I go keeping the tension on the line so I can feel the hits. Have had several times a hit would happen and not hook up but the eyes follow and finally chomp on it.
I have a rope system on the back engine cowling that keeps the pole safe from taking a swim into the lake.
The best conditions are a .5 to .7 mph drift.
If you would like I can take a photo of the set up next time I am out to give you the visual of poles and ropes.
Good questions,
be safe.
