i launched at Catawba just after sunrise, and my first stop was at the green bouy. I tossed back a few small ones, and kept a few keepers when a big USCG ship, with a barge and big crane approached from the east, heading diredtly to the green bouy. After the second set of 5 quick horn blasts, 2 boats moved out of their way, and the USCG crew pulled up beside the marker, hooked up to it, and the crane hoisted it up onto the ship.

I enjoyed the front row seat (over 100 yards away), which gave this retired guy satisfaction to see a lot of work going on, while I was happily fishing. I think the stirring up of the bottom may have helped the perch fishing for a little bit, but after things slowed down for me, I moved east a ways out from the cliffs on the north side of Catawba. I caught several there, then moved up to south side of Green, where I picked through to keep my 17 for today. I kept a few smaller ones that swallowed the hook too far to survive, a lot of 8", along with a couple of 9". Quite a few throw-backs, but it was an enjoyable day to be out on Lake Erie.

I don't know how long that green bouy will be gone, but wanted to let everyone know that it may not be there if you're looking for it...
