Fished 57 fow off the condos to abino today, kept 6, 5 - 7 #ders threw 2, 8.5 - 9 #ders back & lost 2 fish at the net. Lake was flat, lite breeze had a beautiful day!
Got 2 walleye 1 perch today. Better than some not as good as others . West of the line between SP & Pt Abino.
out yesterday (sun.) landed 3 lost one reeling in, all eater size 20-22" the best thing i could have done was to bring my golfing umbrella - yes it looks crazy but boy did it work!
after reading posting i concentrated on a stealth prog.
no its a dark blue - so there is another nut out there as well - the poor mans bimimi!!
just call me walleye poppins when there biting
actually now that i think about it i have a bimini from my old boat that i wasn't able to sell, wondering if i can get it ajusted/coverted to fit my new boateQuote:
both were/are open bow side councel?
Went out of Barcelona at first light today. Three walleye,a Coho and a Lake Trout. Walker Diver set #3 160 back. I figure that runs 60-65 feet down with my set up. Fished 75-90 FOW. Best action on the screen in terms of hooks was 79-82 FOW. Renosky minnows caught all the fish except the Lake Trout and that hit a harness. Fished 'til Noon.

Anyone run 2 - 3 dipsys off the same side of the boat ? If so whats the secret to stopping the tangles? Thanks for any info.
No sharp turns and like a 1½ on near and 3½ on farther dipsy 3 could be done but never tried it i would do 0 straight off side of boat to accomplish all 3 practice is key and as you get more experienced it gets easier. Till then have fun lol
Fished out of Barcelona at first light again today. Fished 85 FOW just slightly East. Walker Divers set at #3 170 feet back. Four walleyes and a steelhead. Fished until 11:00 AM. All fish on Renosky's.

i have such a tough time keeping my lines from tangling. i watch my lines the whole time and steer in order to keep them straight, so i am at the their mercy - not sure i'm doing it right - i run the rigger at the rear of the port side and the dispy from the side of the starboard 2-lines and i catch hell with that. when i'm feeling cocky i'll try to run a mini planner board off the port side with a snap weight - never caught anything on it but, do it for practice - any suggestions.
My starcraft is narrow and i run 2 riggers 2 dipsys a leadcore out the chute and 1or 2 inline boards with 30 jets. I hardly ever tangle even when running 4 dipsys unless i get spun by wind. All i can say is practice the more you do it the better you get and easier it becomes if your outer dipsy flips it can cause havoc .
I used to run 3 dipsys on 1 side all the time without many tangles in my 19 ft sylvan 0,13/4 and 3 setting none at the same length ever. Make very wide turns never anything sharp. But now I never run any dipsys so no worries.
Thanks for dipsy info, Fishkiller, how far apart were your dipsy rod holders,& did you use different length rods? We fished 42 -45 fow yesterday got 7 keepers 4-6 #ders, 3 dinks went back.
I want to thank everyone on this site and the Buffalo area specifically. Just bought a Crestliner Raptor 1850 in June and after a short learning curve I've been doing well out of SP. Went out Tues and got 4 in the boat biggest was 9 lber. Wed did great before the wind picked up boated 8 with the biggest about 6 lbs. only one pencil. Kept two for dinner the rest went back in. I've been fishing straight out of SP in 60ish ft of water trolling with Walker 107 divers 123 ft back with a trolling spoon and crawler 6 ft back on 15 lb fluro leader. The trolling spoons were a couple of medium sized salmon spoons that I took the treble hook off and put a 30 lb. red Cajun Line small leader with beads and 3 Gamakatsu #2 octopus hooks on. This was way cheaper than buying a Thundermist trolling spoon set up like this. I think all total with the hooks and spoons I have $4 into them. Anyways thanks again and I hope to be a frequent contributor.

Fished out of SBH went out to the humps/rockpile.area. Bottom bounced with chartuse green harnesses had to be rite on bottom 1.3 - 1.6 sp.
we sometimes run multiple dipsys on Ontario mostly 2 per side but sometimes when fish are aggressive and suspended, 3 per side. heres one way to do it...
like Fishkiller said earlier, NO sharp/abrupt turns! also, I wouldn't use three rods per side under 2.5mph
rod holders 10-12 inches part.
inside rod holder angled down toward water, middle rod holder horizontal to water, outside rod holder one "click" above middle rod holder.
7ft rod for (deep) inside, 8-1/2ft rod in (mid) middle, 10ft rod (high) outside.
inside dipsy 1-setting, middle dipsy 2-setting, outside dipsy 3 setting
takes some practice but you can run these w/o tangles.
these days i use wire on my dipsys, but another way to help minimize tangles is to run wire on inside rod, braid on middle rod and mono on outside rod.
for tight-to-bottom fish like we are seeing on Erie now and/or when slower trolling speeds are needed, there are better methods to get multiple baits down to them
Thanks Shorthanded I'm going to pick up a few more and get them ready for early next week. I might try buying some spoon blanks that are painted by some of the guys selling them on LOU.
Taking my 10 and 12 year old daughters out tomorrow for their 1st ever walleye fishing outing. I haven't been out in a month and just wanted to get some info as to were to go and what to use (colors) ? Thanks,
Tony
Thanks Shorthanded & others for all the info on the dipsys. Milt, the rock pile is about 1 mile north of the #2/seneca shoal red marker bouy. We have been useing chartuse & hammered bronze size 4 blades on the harnesses fished rite on bottom. We were there today & fishing was slow but constant, ended up with 7 keepers. 1.3 - 1.7 spd.

thx for the info
Went out yesterday- Sat. Fished from 8:00 am to 12:10pm. It was HOT. I'm talking about the weather not the fishing. Ended up with ONE WALLEYE.. a few silver bass and a few stripped hooks. Fished with yellow birds, jets & dipseys. All had worm harnesses. The one came off a larger dipsey #2setting. The word on the radio - some had 14, 6, 8, none, etc.
One of our fellow fisherman got ripped off of $4800 worth of equip. Mostly muskies, capt. Larry Jones had rods & equip. taken out of his boat in the Jamestown area. The rods were custom built & have his name on them, keep an eye open for any of them. You can read the whole story at " Lakeontariounited.com" web site under $1000 reward in sub title Muskies, pike, & walleyes.
Milt - your right one better than none. I think the fish get lockjaw when I get on the lake. One game left in the regular season. Not much to talk about. We have faultered lately. We're in the playoffs and they might start Friday. A new season starts. All that we have to do is win the next four games and then we are champs again. All that we need to do is start throwing the ball, catching the ball, pitching the ball and hitting the ball. We haven't been doing much of that lately. We need improvements in all of the areas.
A few the boys that fished the NCCC out of sturgeon yesterday CRUSHED em 30 plus fish for some of them mostly caught on leadcore. They're out there go get them. We had an ok finish at 17th place out of 100 boats we needed another 9lbr for todays weigh in and we would have been under 10th place. Oh well...lol A couple more weeks of walleyes then as soon as the bait is available in the river its perchin time.:D
WOW, that really sucks... I can't stand thieves. And to see that they filtered what they were taking means they most likely fish. Crack and methheads take whatever they get they're hands on. Not pick and choose. Hope this or these (b@st@rds) get caught and at least some stuff is recovered.
Just posting to see if this Forum is still working as I haven't seen any posts for awhile.Either its the bad weather or everyone is catching so many eyes, they don't have time to post! HAHA! :)
I haven't had much to say lately. Haven't been out and scratching my head on how to manage an assult this weekend on the walleye. What to try and what to do? Fishon, way to go. You have to stop by my boat and give me a few of your secrets. My tactics aren't working that well. What's the weather going to do this weekend? Not looking too good. ??
Milt- I think you are right. First game of the playoffs, semi finals start Friday. Maybe??
Fished yesterday ,2 in the box ,dropped 3 off condos 56fow . A buddy fishing next to me got 7 in the box.:( Another friend caught a 32", 11# last wk. off waverly.
