The score last night 11 - 4. We won. I had a bunch of nibbles. About 7 strike outs. But I don't care about that. A Win is a Win. The team was hitting the ball.

Well did a few hours out this am at sbh lots of marks only takers were those junk fish called bass. Sounds like night fishing fell off so maybe this is the transition. Did hear someone got a few pn radio not sure where but only a few trolling that i saw ..
Went to Myers & 18I mile. 2 poles jets no fish 11:30 till 3:00
we launched at SBH and fished off the windmills. started in close, saw bait and some marks but no takers, slid out to 35 - 37 ft. and picked up a few silver bass, sheephead and 2 walleye - all on harnesses.
fished by the windmills in 30fow box 2 on harness alot of bait fish swiming around water temp is 66
went perching today - beautiful day - kept 30+ nice jacks, threw back a bunch.
48 fow off Seneca, and then 60 fow between Meyers and Sturgeon - bigger fish were scattered. drop shot with minnows worked for us
saw and heard of some nice catches today

We started out in 45 ft directly out NW from Barcelona Harbor, trolled out to 95 ft,nothing.Went back to the harbor and got out the bass rods,we caught so many smallmouth bass I lost count. At 10 pm we went out on Chautauqua Lake for walleye, floating weeds were so bad that we quit at 1:00 am,no fish.

We went out of sturgeon sunday, what an awesome day to be on the water weatherwise, no wind water like glass. Nice being able to open her up and zoom right out to the fishing spot like a rocket! Perch fishing however was terrible, did not catch many at all. We got a late start probably 9:30am till 1pm only caught 3 perch. Fished a usually productive hole around 55 ft, puttered around here and there and then the last hour moved into 40 feet and then 20 feet just to see what was hitting. On those 2 depths we entered goby land big time, seemed like just as soon as you could drop an emerald shiner they would gobble it up. My daughter even caught a zebra mussel, that was weird. On a good note my new used kicker moter worked great. My next step I think is to learn how to play with the sensitivity on my humminbird to read when perch are on the bottom. Boy just when I thought I had these perch figured out, you get a day like today! We were somewhat near a large group of boats but I did not see anyone pulling them in, lots of them were moving and leaving as well. Water temp was about 65 degrees.
A buddy from work was out sunday off seneca and they did well on with the perch around 48-50 foot they started at 9:00 am and finished at 2:00 they ended up with close to 100 keepers for 4 guys. With some fish around 14" to boot.
ok thanks, that was first on my list, zooming up on the bottom. I have a 788ci, there are some functions that I will read about and play around with and just see how it works. Do you locate them first and then fish, or hit your usual area(s) and if unproductive hunt them up if too slow?
generally speaking, for me personally, no matter what what species i am after i first find fish then begin fishing.
one exception to the above, when i might fish proven spots without marking fish, is when the surface water temps are within the species' preferred temp range, as the fish could be up high in the water column and difficult to mark on fish finder. perch are generally related to bottom so for them i still would find them first and then start fishing
Anyone going to get out before weekend i would think the day bite should take off temps are about right now.
Bailey - I fished for a few hours early on Monday morning. I caught one 5# on a silver willow leaf harness. That was the only nibble that I had.
2 friends of mine fished Monday Am. & got a 11 # & a 5# near the depart. bouy. both on harnesses. They marked very few fish. I am going for perch tomarrow am.
Time to start looking at the starting weedbeds. Fish will move into them as well as head toward deeper water
Barry - you are going to become the PERCH MASTER. How did you do in the tournament? Bailey are you going to take a drive this weekend? Fishkiller how about u? Most of us have to be weekend warriors.
Plan on being out either with fishkeller, trying to round up a posse or my rig if that falls thru.
Bailey - if you go with fishkiller learn his secrets and tell me. Don't let him know. We have a lot to go before we catch up to him.
Perching was slow for us today, only got 28-30 out over 62 fow in front of sturg. pt. Also had bad minnows (big).
Im not convinced the perch spawn is over, the perch I have been catching are not spawned out. The past few days have been very slow on the perch bite. Fished the Catt, Sturgeon, and off the bouy. Maybe its just the luck of the Irish. LOL.
It'll cost ya capt sure there is a market for good tips, he'll probably blind fold me lol till lines are down lol. Either he is good or i'll bust him in a fish storie lol.
I have heard the same, we didn't try it but being slow I don't know if we could have noticed a diff. Maybe will try it next time. We only saw one boat that must have been right on top of them get a few.
What perch tournament are guys talking about?
It was sponsored by the Southtowns Walleye Assoc. It was last Saturday.
Hey if anyone sees a nice new lowes bucket floating around the niagara river at the foot of ferry its all yours. :) It's probably over the falls by now. Thank god I brought a second bucket only because I was going to try and save some minnows in an aerator and keep them alive. boy those new nylon ropes are slippery. One dip to bring up some water first, halfway up and down she goes knot untied all I could do was watch it float away and be mad and laugh at the same time.
Oh I see what you mean about bigger minnows...
The marinas & launches will be crowded & nuts this week end! My buddie wants to take a case of beer & go sit by the launches & watch the fun, loading & unloading of the boats. We did it a few years ago, saw a boat come off the trailer onto the launch, a guy forget to remove transom tie down straps & yell(stupid bi*#h) at his girlfriend because she couldn't pull the boat off the trailer & saw boat ,trailer, & truck all go into the lake. All this on one day! Great fun.
Lineman -- take a look at " let's talk about the bad days " further down the list for thethe Eastern End. There are some good confessions on that blog
Ha ha ha. Too funny bout the bucket. Ya gotta tie a half hitch at the tail end of the rope. I wont tell you how i know that ( foot of ferry) I lost a $50 net this spring to my drunken cousins. Now I own a $100 net!
Captianjoe, I saw that thread after I did it here but I didn't know how to move mine there. I have another story I'll have to post some day about me & a friend. Sorry about that.
Lineman -- it doesn't matter to me where you post it. I just wanted to show you where to get a few laughs. I could tell you a story about today but it would take to long right now.
I'm on the lake now. 2 in the box. Nice size. Worm harnesses. One in 30the jet. Other off lead weight
Way to go ! Get more. Good luck ! I might have to get up real early & beat the crowds to the launches if I go this weekend. Either out of Sturg. pt. or Sbh.
A day on the water. Launched no problems. Went 1 mile west of SP. Setup. Planner board line fell off the pulley. Stood up on the bow trying to retread it, wind, waves etc. Had to secure the two boards with lines. Removed the planner mast and retreaded it. Ok all set up. Yeah! Caught a fish off the starboard big board. Just got it in the boat and noticed that we lost the port planner board. It was like that for some time. I spotted the board. Made a 180. Came up to it on starboard side. Cut the engine. Too late. Some of the line got wrapped around the trolling motor prop shaft. Got that freeded. Put out the boards again. Starboard side was good. Port was 20 ft from the boat. Pulled that in and sent out YELLOW BIRD. Hay all set up now. Caught fish #2. Kept trolling west and noticed a boat coming towards us. DEC - show us your license. Ok here we go again
just caught # 3. Noticed one speaker on the radio not working. Fixed that. Saw a good show at the marina with people launching. Hay we all have stories to tell. Every day is an Adventure.
Hey capt sounds like you should heed your own advise on post placement LOL. glad you hooked up today the new boat can catch fish good to get the skunk out before it really sets in so to say. Ill be out one of next 2 days not sure which yet.
