I gotta redo my floor in the boat when this weather breaks. Good friend is a upholsterer so he's redoing my seats while they're out. Glad the crestliner is all aluminum, including the Stringers. So only the floor and front deck needs to be done. Think I'm gonna change some stuff around. Like to add a rod locker, bait well, ect. Bailey we need to hit silver or chautaqua or something here soon. I'm starting to go through fishing withdraws. Lmao
This weathers been messed hoping things stay locked up ice wise now. I may be bound for oneida thurs if i am out of work. Waiting for other jobs to be readied. So maybe sunday this weekend.
Just realized the time posted is an hour ahead
Where's that at? Just curious
Nuticharts lite good smart phone app for those who have them.
Well i had the day off so went to silver lake drilled at least 20 holes put the camera in each at some point while fishing. I caught 2 medium gills and 2 very short perch. From deep to shallow i never saw a fish on camera a first. Water was pretty clear also. I should've tried a different lake but wanted to go there but i didn't get skunked.
Bailey, FYI a friend of mine has gone to honeye & conseus within the last week on the north ends of both lakes. Both have 7-8" of ice & two guys caught over 200 blue gills each time out. He said some good size ones. Just to let you know. He was going again today but I have no report as of yet.
Thanks lineman i am actually thinking of heading to coneseus tomorrow because its looking like a 4 day weekend for me. And that little info is enough to make it more appealing. The good thing about this site one hand washes the other i'll remember the tip!!
Just got the report they kept 100 out of conesues today. Good Luck!
Yeah that north end is productive there are nice eyes there if you can get them to hit but out deeper. Its the only lake i ran out of fuel on, we got to playing and not paying attention pulling a tube. Only a couple hundred yds from launch lol
Lmao we ran out of fuel pulling a tube there too. My buddy has a cottage there. If you've ever seen the nasty yellow cat with a big block sticking out the back. That's his. That lake is so full of alewives it's rediculous. But I would think that the eyes should be getting stacked up towards the creek where they spawn. Might get some nice pike through the ice too. Attachment 823
The main spawning creek is the inlet on south end the outlet is on north. This wind is stupod so trying again sunday morn. When the eyes spawn there it is an amazing sight along with pike the inlet fills with big fish .
On those slow days and Fishkiller is the only one with a limit i always wondered what his secret was, well it was revealed finally. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgKz...e_gdata_player
Lol. That's good. I'm sure Jim's raiding the flash bangs at work. He he
STWA meeting Thursday night. Who's coming ??
I'll be there for sure.
ill be there
Joe you going to be at the meeting tomorrow. Jim, I'll bring some hooks and blood red coated leader.
Yes. I'll be there. I have to. I owe Jim money.
How bout that joe me to, he should be paying us.
I havr to raise my prices....lol
There is a decent little bait and tackle in clerance by Don Georges good bait decent prices on new and used gear hood selection for ice also. Its worth a look. CAPT BOB'S. He is expanding gear more towards erie. So take a look stop in seems like a good guy to deal with.
Guys, what type and size hooks are you using for your Lake Erie open water worm harnesses?
Thanks in advance,
Jack
Jack, I use 1/0 or 2/0 Mustad Octopus (Beak) hook. The Mustad part# is 92553. I personally use the Red hooks and 30# red wire to tie my harnesses. I start with a 16" piece of wire and tie the hooks with a standard snell and use a size 4 or 5 blade either colorado or willow leaf. If you use wire you will need a #3 crimp sleeve to make your loop. I also use 6mm beads you can get at a craft store or tackle shop or online.
Did anyone go to the Boat Show? There were a lot of nice machines there. Cold snowy, gray weather on the outside. Nice clean, shiny, polished, boats on the inside sitting on green grass. :)
Didn't get a chance to but was thinking about it, for all the reasons you mentioned! I took my kids sledding today but was looking at the boat in the driveway, covered in snow, and thinking ahead to warmer days and getting out on the water...
I was there Saturday afternoon it was ok way too many pleasure boats the biggest fishing boat there was a 23' Striper Hard Top. I thought they could have done a better job with the fishing boats.
They had a bunch of smaller fishing boats last year. Only a couple really caught my eye. I was gonna go today. But was stuck to the couch most of the day do to some cherry moonshine, wine and beer last night. Lol
Cherry moonshine? I never heard if that.
Is it a secret recipe?
Nope no secret joe well just one don't eat more than you can handle lol. It's to easy find someone who makes shine locally or your next trip thru the south to the beach buy some there just don't get shot looking for it ha ha. Easiest way is buy a bttle at liquor store but going that route get strongest liquor in store like 151 rum and get a big jar of cherries drain cherries well then fill back up with liquor, put them in fridge for a week to do their magic. Finally eat cherries till you fall down. Oh yeah drink juice when cherries are gone dont waste good booze lol
Only on this website you get a well rounded education about many different topics. Thanks guys. Maybe Fishkiller will be serving loaded cherries on his charters. It will help during the lull times.
Hope he brings a sling shot and has good aim. Lol
