All the best walleye action is up in Canadian waters right now, but lucky for you its west of Pelee Island, which is pretty much the closest Canadian place to West Harbor. Try north of Kelleys Island out around gull island shoal (actually a reef) in the deeper water (35+ feet), look for the clearest water you can find. If that doesn't produce or the kids get bored you can usually catch fish (sheephead, catfish, smallmouth bass, maybe a walleye) closer to the shoal in shallower water (10-25 feet) but be VERY CARFUL to stay away from the actual reef. Check your charts and orient with the buoy that marks the reef. You can also try perch fishing in the 50 foot "hole" between Kelleys and Gull (on charts). On the way in for plain ole fishing try around Starve Island or the buoys to the south east that mark another deep hole, fish the depth transition areas, you can again catch sheepshead, catfish, and maybe white bass or white perch. Good luck and have fun!
