West western basin
Has anyone been to the west of west sister, near the intake area, 22-24 fow in the last couple days. As of friday it was still pretty muddy through there. Was thinking of heading out in the morning and just wondered if its worth trying or if I should just head out to the north side of island. Weather permitting, that is. I'm getting conflicting wind reports and its a hefty cruise in my surfboard to get out there from my dock.
Also, I picked up some michigan stingers in all you guys ( and gal ) favorite colors. Have you heard of anyone casting them? I was thinking of trying on a carolina rig setup. Was just curious if that's common practice or a waste of time. If anyone knows of any reasons why it would not go over well, I would appreciate the replies. Always gotta be willing to try somethin new, right? I'd like to hear about experiences casting them. Thanks to all, good luck, and stay safe.
I also looked into the minn kota terrova and it sounds great but I'm thinking more along the lines of newer boat next year. Borderline expensive purchase for my 1990 18ft ranger.I'm gonna miss her.... ....Maybe not so much, now that she left

Well, I didn't go out after all. Got the boat all loaded up and stood on the dock and watched the wind blow and blow, and blow. I took the safe route and came home to do fun stuff like laundry and dishes.
Does anyone have any reports on how the water is cleaning up, or isn't? Hope to get out thursday morn.
Good luck to all!I'm gonna miss her.... ....Maybe not so much, now that she left

If it were me, I think I'd save the money for a new boat as well! We just had to replace the dual pro charger and a live well switch in ours and we're already looking for a new boat. Bring out another thousand!
I haven't ever cast the spoons but I don't see why that wouldn't work. Spoons have terrific action, if you're fishing for reaction bites it's hard to imagine a spoon fluttering down wouldn't be excellent.
Good luck and stay safe.
