Default braid is a good option. as well

I have a good fishing buddy that loves his 10-4 Fireline . Most guys use the 30-10 Power Pro as well. The 10-4 Fireline is excellent due to being such small diameter. Less line out to the same depths.

I prefer the smaller mono as its more fun and sporting realing the fish in . I think the 30-10 is overkill for walleyes as that is what we use Salmon fishing in Lake Michigan and Ontario.

10 # mono would be to light in my opinion. Most everyone i know and myself uses 30# power pro with 6-8 ft 20# flurocarbon leader that way we are all at the same depth when you get leads from someone else. Dont lose many fish to break offs. I use to use 14# fluro and had a lot off break offs on big fish. also dont go cheap on swivels or use to small sweivels. It all makes a difference at the end of the day. Nothings worse that getting that 30" walleye to the back of the boat to just see him swim away with your 13 dollar jet diver and 6 dollar spoon.
    Good luck

Lots like Power pro in 30lb . Most of these guys are charters that have people not use to fishing Erie so it is a safe bet to not lose gear . To me on my personal boat its about enjoying the sport and the fight of the fish on the lighter gear but again , Im old school . Another thing to be aware of with the braid , is slack line . Since the braid has no stretch , the slightest bit of slack line and the fish is gone .

Set your drags where they need to be with 10 lb test mono , and losing gear and fish is not a problem at all . Love to hear the sound of the drag taking off before even grabbing the rod out of the holder . Fight on !
