excellent post by Tin Can. hit the nail on the head about 6 times. The weapon rig is my favorite to fish with and all the success I have had on it, comes by doing exactly what he said. In addition to fishing the swing and everything else he mentioned, I also do what I call a "flutter" when fishing the weapon. hard to explain but basically when you are retrieving.....i pull about 4-5 feet (like the motion you would use when you set the hook, except slower), then reel that 4-5 feet back while you reset your rod to your original position. and repeat. this creates a slow rise of the rig while you are pulling, then a free fall flutter while you are reeling back the line. most of the time they will hit it on the free fall

Thanks guys. I'll tie up some mayfly rigs tonight and give those a go Saturday. Do you all use an inline with those? Eggs? No weight? I've seen them in the bait shops up there years ago, I think I even have one in my tackle box that I'll need to retie, but never actually been up there during the hatch and needed to use them. I believe the one in my tackle box came with a 1/2 ounce inline weight tied to it that you attached to a snap swivel, gold beads and a #3 gold Indiana blade.
Ryguy, that's how I've always fished my crawler harnesses, so I know exactly what you're talking about.
