    we cleaned one of or walleye we caught sunday and the meat was a brown color and felt dried out fish was about a 3.5 lb fish looked a little skinny but not to bad also was not alot of meat on the fillet.never seen anything like it in any fish it looked bad enough we did not want to eat it .it was not just a spot it was the whole fillet on both sides.has anybody ever seen anything like this.

    There were a few reports of those brown fillets last year in the central basin! Forgot what they said caused it but it was reported several times on the OGF community Lake Erie discussion board. Will check a couple of other sites to see if I can dig anything up on the subject!

    Default Bad Filets

    I read that reply on the condition called myopathy, I have seen areas on Walleye filet , however we just removed the bad spot , I have never had a whole Walleye with this problem. We have also cleaned a few Sheephead to experiment with diferent ways of preparing them over the years and they seem to have this same condition but more often. I wondered what it was thanks for posting the info
