I have never had a problem catching walleye during the mayfly hatch. The eyes are usually in the the upper 1/3 of the water column and they are usually on the feed bag. Weather and water clarity has more to do with the walleye bite than the mayfly hatch. If you troll try varying your speed and depth. If casting try from a splash count to 10 or 11 count, you will most often get them some where between those numbers.
