i use a egale claw... brave egale...yes a ice rod.. a swivel..ture turn hook #2 no bling ...1 maybe 2 3/8 split shot..minnow hooked down through the back then up into the jaw. the little pole lets me hold the pole under my armwhen putting minnow on.and it is just stiff enough to feal or see any little bump of the line...the small pole is a real space saver too.. i get sh.t from my friends about it all the time..but as they have found out ,,IT DOES WORK

I've considered using an ice rig, but was sure other fisherman would laugh. Might try it eventually lol
Have you caught any walleye or sheepies on it though?

I use a mitchell bush rod which is about 30in long and started as an ice rod. I also use a ultralight 4.5 ft. but my go to is the short one. It looks like crap, is covered with scales and has an old Cardinal ultralight reel that I got from Cabelas in the 80s w/6 lb. fireline. I've used all kinds of rigs but keep comin back to a spreader with # 2 kahle hooks or red octupus hooks. I love that little rod!
