6/7 walleye galore!

Fished around middle bass. Finally got my boat back. Been broke for about a month, but that’s another story! Started off the shoal at East point. Didn’t mark much, so I moved between sugar, and north bass. Marked a lot. Set a troll. Caught a bunch of farm. Moved between rattlesnake and middle bass. So many fish. I was pulling crawlers and pounding. Most times colors don’t matter, but today it was green, white, and orange that couldn’t fall. Colorado blade. I burnt through 4 dozen crawlers! I limited in 1 1/2 hours then just kept fishing. Nothing big. Shorts to 20”, but super fun boated at least 30 in 3 hours. Ran out of crawlers. Stated perching later. Caught 10 over 10” called it a day. I was the only boat in the area. Everyone has been KI, but plenty over my way.. I also was hitting on a gold double willow. Everything was tight to the bottom. 30-32 fow over here running a 2 oz snap 48-54 back at around 2mph, super fun day!

Great to hear there are still so many eyes west of the islands. And perch are in the area! Thanks for posting.

Billy Boy, thank you for the info. I am fishing out of south bass first week of July. I know a month is a long time but you think fish will still be holding on and around the islands? I am completely ignorant of the patterns in Lake Erie. Also can the perch be found pretty much anywhere in and around the islands? Thank you in advance !

There will be fish around. Getting them to bite is a whole other question. The later it gets in the season the harder it is to get a limit. Between mayflies, shorts, and sheep head it gets more difficult. They are usually tight to the bottom now. You need to be willing to move around, and change bait. Crawler harness at 2mph to start. Spoons and around 2.5. Try something with white on it if you can. As far as perch. They are around all the time. Not in the big schools like later. If you’re launching at the state park you can start south of green. I usually start south of rattlesnake, and search heading east to middle bass.
