    Default looking to spring

I'm from the eastern basin of lake erie, where we troll for, and drag our eyes in all summer long....but i have heard some rage about the early season, shallow water, cast fishing for eyes in the western basin area.
In an effort to schedule a few days off work in advance and pull my boat up to fish, when is typically the best time frame for this early season fishing?

Any tips or advise would be appreciated!

    Default Spring

We had renters in our place last year mid April that caught 3 eyes over 9lbs. Fishing is usually great around mid April to mid or end of May. Jig fishing can provide excellent results and typically done close in. We rent our condo near Wild Wings west of Port Clinton and fish are maybe a mile out in early spring.

went out of turtle creek last year apr. 18th and 19th. fish at times were only 300 yds. off shore but at that time it is only males on the reefs. if you want the big girls you'll have to venture a little further out and find the dropoffs and troll the edges. turtle creek is the closest to the fish and they are there by the thousands. we caught probably 50 eyes in two days there last year but not every day will be like those we had that weekend but you should do very decent any time mid apr. thru mid may bouncing purple hair jigs on the reefs.
