Boat Launch Ice.

I read they are having some luck with eyes at Huron dumping grounds and I may launch at Huron Saturday and try that area. No docks at Huron but ramp and river are wide open.

If I were going out of Catawba State Park, any suggestions on where to troll for eyes? Between Mouse and Monument maybe? Thanks all! Looking forward to getting the 2017 season started.

Hey there,
seeing that there has been enough ice to make poor ice fishing and also make no boat fishing, a good report from this area is impossible. But knowing that a boat can be launched is a good thing. I know that if I was fishing on the ice I would head North West out of Catabwa.. Once you see Mouse you are in walleye land for as far as you want to go. I will not be trolling .. check out my username.... But if I were, I would troll cranks reel slow (no Pun Intended) reel close to the bottom. Thats where I will be working.

Thanks Black Pearl. I'm still working out whether I will go.. I hate to get water in my engines, and bilge and then have to deal with cold weather.. I guess antifreeze quickly afterwards. I'm sure the outboards drain out well enough, but it lurks in my mind.

I am open to input and advice. I always have more to learn.

Yes,, that's true... Nothing like using a flasher on the ice though..
