That is the size I use with my #17 test, if you go to .043" you can fit the line thru, but it's a tough go. I'm lazy and it works. Any crimps that don't cut into the mono when you crimp it works, one friend uses his needle nose vise grips.

Anyone know of any places in PC that sell the crimps? I know that Fisherman's Wharf carries Stinger spoons, but I'm cautiously optimistic my order will arrive before we head up tomorrow afternoon. Nobody down here carries them, I've checked Bass Pro, hardware stores, Sears, Dick's and none of them have crimps. I just need to know whether or not to have my old man bring some wiring pliers. I used the perfection knots and have the hooks within 3/4" of the split ring, but I'd feel more comfortable with crimps.

My question is why use crimp sleeves when making mono harnesses? I tie hundreds of harnesses a year and all the harnesses I tie on mono I simply tie a loop knot in it. I only use crimp sleeves when I'm tying harnesses on 30# wire.

When I tie regular harnesses I use a loop also, I use the crimps for the spoon harness so I can get the top hook as close as possible to the spoon. Did I miss something?
