08-28-2021, 05:57 PM #1 Preserving minnows with rubbing alcohol Preserving minnows with rubbing alcoholI found a thread on this site where a poster said he uses 90 isopropyl rubbing alcohol. I tried this with some minnows and the minnows look great but have an alcohol odor even after rinsing with water. Anyone know if there is a way to eliminate the odor?

When I was first told of this trick, I thought it was nuts, and that the fish would avoid it, but they freak'n like it! It doesn't matter the species either. I've caught all kinds of species using minnows that smell like alcohol chewing gum. lol

I haven't tried just regular rubbing alcohol though, so I can't comment on that.

Others use cheap vodka to freeze them, and they claim that works well, so maybe the regular stuff works too.

Try it, and if the regular rubbing alcohol doesn't work....I recommend switching to the wintergreen rubbing alcohol.
