Re: Help a newbie out?
I have 4 rods now all 6' or 6'-6" ugly sticks with medium flex and 6-14 pound line rated. I use these for casting, perching and trolling.
By trolling I'm using them to "flatline" off the corners.... -

Re: Looking for Braid Recommendations
Keep in mind the pound test for your braid setup is important. I start with 30#braid on my trolling equip but 20# braid on my casting. I use a 20# leader to weights, stickbaits, spoons. I tie my...

If you are trolling, use the countdown method to determine approximate depth. I recommend starting with harnesses and spoons, but stickbaits are good too.

Who are you Pitcher Chamberlin. I cannot believe you are worried about midges. They don't bite, they don't multiply above the water.
They live for no more than 2 days out of water, usually 1 day.

I could be wrong but I've always heard a WB report with G can being on the firing range. Doubt many are going to the line for perch.

I've had good days with strong NE winds and I'm no pro. Charter captains aren't going to cancel a day unless its blowing over 15.
You've got to find the fish that want to eat. That simple.

Yes I know the scoops were generous. My buddy paid for 4 dozen. We caught all our fish, and threw back a dozen smalls and a few sheephead, and froze 3.5 dozen still alive after our trip.
