How many perch is this
5 fish weigh in. Not bad for winner huh
Wow .that'd sure be nice to catch them monsters
I have been fishing west of SP 3-4 miles in 62fow the last week. Been getting some nice big fish but unable to find any big schools. mostly been drifting around and picking up a few here and there. Any info on location would be greatly appreciated. Going to take kids out and want to make sure they have some action to keep them interested in fishing. Thanks in advance and good fishing!!!!!
Took my nephew perching today out of the Catt. Found some small schools in 64 FOW. Ended up with 54 before he ran out of energy.
Anyone have any new ,good perch info. they might want to share ? Maybe #'s, fow, between the Catt. & SP. Going in the AM. Thanks in advance!
Probably too late to help you, but a week ago we launched out of cat and fished in 67 feet of water and it was non stop for 4 hours. Funny thing was when I first anchored I was worried I was too deep, but I was marking fish so stayed, good thing! That was a week and 1/2 ago.
Was out today, straight out of the Catt. 64-68 fow. most about 10-12 ", a few bigger ones. Ended up with 75-80 fish. Nice day but 2- 3 footers. Lots of up & downs!
Got minnows at ferry st.
Mostly pin heads. Bigger ones come in and out. Give yourself a few extra minutes to get your dip
was at foot of ferry around noon tons of bait nice size / but the problem i see orientals filling 4 5 gal buckets full pf emeralds no water just minnows/is'int there a law to restrict this // corridor rules / bait sales / wanton waste / maybe fishing license/ the guy running buckets back to the suv need a license ? / is the dec keeping a eye on this ? / i've seen enough bait taken to day to last all the perch fishermen on this end of erie the rest of the year.i have heard this is a every day thing at ferry.if we run out of emeralds its not because of fishermen dipping bait. if i needed to eat them so be it we also have a lot of rats:mad::mad::confused: will contact dec to see what they have to say
Joe I've seen the same thing down there. And they waste just as many as they take. Are they feeding them to people in a restaurant? If say anyone participating in the taking of fish must have a license. You can't go and help your buddy put on a deer drive without a license. They consider it an act of hunting even with no firearm.
Without having time to look into it, I would think that license or not, what you described and what they're using them for is probably illegal. There's a limit to private use or commercial. Has the DEC and Border Patrol been informed??? They may not even be residents.
Any news on perch fishing off Catt. Creek. I am heading Dow for the first time ever. Any tips would help.
Haven't been out all year due to some life issues that put a halt on my fish'n. Has anyone been finding perch in there travels for the eye's. Im taking the boat out for a run this afternoon since it's sat for a year. Thought I'd throw in a couple rods and fish a while if all runs well. Heard you all have been doing great on the eye's....I hope the perch are still in abundance as last year. Thanks and god fish'n
Caught one today, in 79fow out of the Catt...head approx. 300 deg until you get into 75-85 fow.
We marked a few "perch piles" right on the bottom off Dunkirk around 85-95 fow last Firday. (report better late than never)
Anyone getting/trying any perch yet on a regular basis ??
There are some showing up at the catt now some guys doing pretty good. 65-70 foot
What are they using for bait? Are emeralds available at the local baitshops?
None at Big catch as of Sunday. Just goldens.
Heard last night that the perch are starting to move in, but I wasn't told of the size of the fish.
Walked from Squaw island to the Foot of Ferry last nite. Just a few schools of pinheads. Seen one guy dipping in the corner. He was having a very hard time finding any keeper sized Emeralds.
Anyone been able to get out and find schools yet?
Perch seemed to have lockjaw for us today. Managed enough for a meal. Marked lots of fish and bait. I'm sure some did well.
I'm traveling from Rochester, and am hoping to get out one day this week........ Does anyone have a recent report out of SP or the Catt, and are Emeralds available at local bait shope??? Is it worth trying for walleyes this time of year?
Two of us fished out of the Catt on Tuesday 11/3 and wound up with 2 limits. Millers had emeralds. The docks were in at the Hanover Town launch, but not the state launch. We hunted perch most of the morning, and finally found them shortly after lunch.... 58 fow pretty much out front. Very nice day for early November! Gotta love the Lake Erie fishing!
Anyone been out for perch lately? Are docks still in at SP is launch open/ able to be used even without docks? Any emerals around ? Thanks for any info.! Can't find Big buck so far might as well go fishing.
Last time I stopped at SP about 10 days ago docks were in, that was the morning it was about 22 Degrees. Lots of gulls flying inside the marina so there must have been bait inside. Talked with a fisherman just docking his boat, he was cold and had no perch. Not a up to date report but best I can do.
Anchor Wheel, Thanks for the info.
I just drove by SP about 2 hrs ago. 2 of the launch docks were in.
there a launch in at the sbh by the office
I went by Sturgeon Point yesterday. In the parking lot there had to be at least 20 vehicles parked with empty boat trailers. Someone from this website had to be out. ????
