Yes it was. :(
Fished in the wind yesterday and didn't want to get out too far. Didn't have to. At 54 fow between the Catt an Silver Creek the bottom 8 feet of the graph turned black. Anchored once and was done in an hour. The wife was happy got some yard work done.
Bailey, his father n I drift (trolled) in front of Bennett beach. 60-65fow. Dragged anchor. Had alot of throw backs but boxed 126. We had alot of silver bass and white perch too. What size perch were you getting? Man was it rough out there in the morning open water. My stomach wAsnt happy with me for the first couple hrs. N I don't usually feel or get sick on the water. Lol.
Do you guys know where i can get minnows? Dave's doesnt have any. Im hoping to get out in the morning. Thanks
Try the river at ferry ,ontario, sts. or maybe at sherdian dr. boat launch We got salted at Daves yesterday & Miller had salted. Nia. bait & tackle had live emerals give a call there. We did 50 with salted yesterday good luck!
25 perch today. Out side the Cat. A few different stops.. picked few up then they stopped.
Bait at ferry today, easy pickings :D
anyone been doing any good with the perch as of late? Im hoping to get out thursday morning. any info would be much appreciated. thanks in advanced
Thinking of heading out on Saturday AM. Any suggestions as to where to start? Thanks
Tony
can anyone tell me where they get minnows at the foot of ferry? I went down there and have no clue where to start looking. Thanks again
Since this last rain Ferry isn't the only place to get minnows anymore. I got some yesterday along the rocks just above the International Railroad bridge. They are finally getting into thier fall pattern and will start showing up in other areas of the river without as much pressure.
thanks for the info. hopefully we can get a few for the freezer. Believe it or not this will be out 1st time trying for perch. Thanks again Prchmike
was down at the ft ferry at 445 pm to get bait today 7 guys in line waiting to dip got my share about hour later if anybody going there fri go early yellowpike1
Fished out of the Catt. today 3 guys we kept 60-70 nice 10"- 12" ers. fished 58 fow. a little west of the catt. another beauty of a day! Miller gave us 2 good dips of emerals. His count seems a bit better than Daves. jmo ;)
The corner at Ferry isn't the only place to get bait. Take a walk down the wall by the treatment plant and keep looking over the side. You will see big schools down there. I get mine down there. I won't wait in line to get bait.
Dam, those fresh perch are good & tasty too !:D
Lol you just shove those Asians out of the way when getting bait. They're just selling it in there stores or restaurant as food. Just ask them to see their fishing license. I've never had to wait. Hell the last time I was down there these black guys were nettin minnows n we walked up with our bucket. I tied the rope to it and got some water I was standing there waitin for them to get done and the guy goes need minnows? Here ya go, pulls the net up and dumps a huge net load in my bucket. Didn't even unroll my net. Lmao.
We'll find ya a rebel flag for the back window of the ultimate redneck ford you drive lol i think it's the only thing missing to fit the part lol i know someone on this site who may have one when he is not correcting my spelling, maybe he'll offer one up lol
fished out st pt headed to 70 ft off whitewall nonstop action got are 2 man limt in three hrs all nice fish a few silvers mixed in the action good fishing :D yellowpike1
we fished sat a little chop that was it yellowpike1;)
Fished out of SP. today west in 45 fow. 3 guys kept 50 nice size perch all 10"-13.75" fish. My first fish was a 5# walleye caught on a crappy rig. Nicer fight than dragging them in on a troll. Still can't seem to get into the deer hunting mode.:( SP. still had 2 docks in at the launch.
Game on!!!! It's time
Here's a post for Sturgeon Pt. from the 24th on another site...
Fished Sturgeon point from 11 till dark. Ruff walk getting pass the shove ice . Best path I found was little going south west out of the harbor. Fell a little short of the fishing grounds. Hunkered down in 48'. First fish was a 20" Walleye. Caught about 15 or so perch most were only 9-10" 1 was 12" .Packed up about 4 for the long walk in. Wind opened up some of the cracks out there. Large opening about 30' wide over 1/4 mile long. It starts at about 43' of water and heads towards shore south west of the harbor. There is another large crack not nearly as wide about 3 or 4oo yrd. north of the wide crack pretty much straight out of port. Thankfully the ice in between the large cracks was fair. Had to step over a few small cracks and walk around a few others. The large open spot south west of port is pretty much the trail a four wheeler used last night I could see your tracks in places. When it locks back up that will probably be the best route to the fishing grounds. While heading out this morning a box of a couple hundred jigs bounced out of my sled please keep your eyes open for them. I will put a post in the other section also. Better give it a few more days after the wind dies down to head out. Be safe and check with a spud often. The spot that opened up was 6" of black ice when I headed out. Where I fished it was about 10" of white ice.
It sounds like Sodus bay has good ice, but the catchin' is a little slow.
I'm going to wait until Thursday for the cracks to freeze, and try out of Sturgeon.
Look for this if your out there....

Just noticed that I have a Dr. appt. at the VA on Thursday. May get out sooner.
Does Weber's have shiners?
I want to get some fresh salts, maybe tomorrow at the foot of Ferry.
Whats with all this wind? Shooting for weds to head out if it lets up .
Weather for Tuesday....
Mostly sunny and cold with highs zero to 5 above. Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Wind chill values as low as 25 below.
Wed...
Sunny and cold with highs 10 to 15. Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph.
I talked to my partner, and we're going to cancel tomorrow.
I'll go the the VA on Thursday am, then right to the river for minnows.
We're then fishing Sturgeon on Friday.
Saw a few boats anchored on the Ontario Bar this morning. I wonder if the run is on for spring perch yet. Have to believe the Lake Erie ice cover is going to delay things this year. I'm getting antsy. Anyone have any current info?
