I wish it was me
I heard boats were out of SP yesterday(Sun. 3/6) perch fishing, anyone from here & how'd you do ??
Docks are in at SP & perch are being caught! FYI, new bait shop is open "A Fishy Business" at 4890 Lakeshore rd. Hamburg.
I saw 7 boats out of SP today.
Did any one try the Catt this weekend?
Captain Joe or Alaskan Joe , did I talk to either one of you? I & my wife were in the green Toyota in the parking lot & you were just leaving & said you were going to try fishing the next day.(sunday)
Not me either.
Oh well ,I tried.
They make fords, gms and dodge in canada, honda and toyota in america, I don't see much difference these days as far as american jobs. When I was looking at chevy equinox they had a sticker showing percentage made in north america. Not america, but north america and even then it was like 65%.

Lineman, have a great fishing season.:D
good article
Anchor Wheel, I did question about the car not being made in the USA when I went to buy. They told me that the Toyota was totally union made in the US. except for the transmission(made in Japan) & it had more American parts in it than the Chevy I was trading in! Surprised the ch!t out of me! Our union president use to harass guys for not buying US. made products, made in America until we looked at his Ford made in Canada with parts made in Mexico, he preceded to put his foot in his mouth & his head up his a$$. lol Past member of the IBEW for 40+ yrs.
You have a great fishing season too!
Lineman, The profits go back to Japan where Toyota is headquarted, which stimulates their economy more than ours IMO.... Bottom line your free to buy what ever you please.
Gotta chime in,
I always bought GM and had a few Fords and my parents too. Always try to buy American whatever it is when you can find it. In 2012 I was shopping a pickup and looked at another GM and then a Toyota. Even know the Toyota's had better ratings, better longevity and hold more then 20% of there value compared, I still had a concenous on the US built thing. That was until the day test drove a Tacoma and asked as we pulled around back, what all the frames were for? He told me in the late 90s and early 2000s Toyota had some bad Tacoma frames (rusting out) and they were replacing them or the whole truck wether you were the original buyer or not. I bought a Toyota! Don't kid yourself, None Of the Big Three Would Ever Do That Or Have Done It for there Consumers.
Greenhead, they do seem to take care of their customers a bit better than the big 3. I have a friend that only buys used Toyota trucks & he doesn't buy any with less than 100,000 miles on them & he will put on another 100,000 miles. just saying.
Thanks, but when you think about it we sit in our boats with our Yamaha & Honda motors(most any brand under a 10hp) pushing us around. We are using our Okuma & other reels, lures, nets & lines made in other countries, all kind of tough to get away from! When was the last time any of us bought an American made TV or other appliance ? I am sure all of us would buy American if we could, just another gov't. screw up! It really is a shame!
jmo. lets get back to perch fishing, good luck to all!
Anybody notice these retired guys all post before noon AKA nap time ?
Yup....if they hit this thing, it's early...lol
sbh has a dock in
there are 2 types of fishermen the retired ones and the ones that want to be :p
Everyone seems to agree that fresh, live emerald shiners are the best bait for perch. But what is next? Live goldens? Salted emeralds?
I am asking because I am thinking about salting a small batch of emeralds, given that they were tough to come by last fall. Interested in your opinions....
I think the live goldens would out fish the salted emeralds but when they are on the feed I think they hit anything. I always keep my left over emeralds. I salt them & put them in the freezer. I still have some in the freezer from last fall & I will use them. jmo.

if u know how to salt minnows good...ill take salteds over live goldens everytime
I keep them alive 'til I get home and send my wife out to run a bunch of errands. Strain off the water and put them in a baggy. Sprinkle a few Tablespoons of salt in there and after a few minutes spread them out onto a sheet pan, sprinkle with enough salt to just get a thin layer on them and leave them in the freezer for an hour or two. Bag them again and store in the freezer. When using them, keep on ice. If they thaw out...Do Not Refreeze! They get stinky.
I have been preserving leftover shinners and leeches from fishing trips for years. Take the shinners or leeches and soak in cheap vodka or wintergreen rubbing alcohol, strain and place in ziplock bags and into the freezer until you are going fishing. They stay soft never loosing scales and work sometimes better then the live ones. Leeches if trolling act like if they were alive. Walleye and perch love them.....
