i will probally go to the boat show i like to walk around just to see what is out there fishon how do do like your crestliner i have the 1950 sportfish with a 150 verado its awesome
I'll prpbably go to the boat show. There will be one similar to mine there. at Olson's area. I ordered it with a 225 Merc outboard. I like to walk into the Ralph Wilson Fieldhouse, you go from a white snowy outside into a building that has green grass, clean polished boats. It just pumps you up for good things that are coming. 87 more days until the marinas open.
I am not sure of times for flea market I believe it starts at 8 but I am sure fishkiller will get times up when he logs on. Hey capt new rig is gonna be an eye catching machine in more ways than one. Ill be floating around in my antique lol but it looks good runs great and catches fish.
8:30-3:00 Sunday Feb. 26. Niagara Co. 4H bldg. in Lockport. We will be there with a full line of Torpedo Divers products for sale. We will be located near the refreshment stand.
thx for the info
No prob Milt.
Yes we will be at the Hamburg Show with a full line of Torpedo Products also.
Hey guys just joined this site, names Brandon and I'm new to walleye fishing this year. I just bought a 19 center console bayliner trophy and was wondering if yous had any tips on how to rig/ things I'll need to be successful on fishing for walleyes
Thanks
Gonna have to get me a couple to try em out jim. Temps forecasted in the 50s next week but we will see if march is gonna give winter one last blast. Think perch could be in the plan soon.
Fishkiller - are you going to have some new items up your sleeve? New Torpedo products? New harnesses?
Joe, we will have a couple of new items from Torpedo Divers at The Western New York Sport and Travel Expo in Hamburg. Im not sure if we'll have any harness's tied up before the show. If we do I will definatly bring some. Will you be coming to the LOTSA flea market on sunday?
Jim, I'm planning on going on Sunday. I'm not sure what time. Unless something comes up - like work. Are you going to the Boat Show this weekend? How about you Bailey? The thought of walking into a inclosed football field, green grass, new shiny boats, all waxed up just gets me going and looknig forward to brighter days on the water. There probably won't be much fishing stuff but you never know. There are always some new ideas that are worth giving a thought to.
As far as the boat show I may go Saturday evening if I go at all. I'll let you know.
Well I don't think ill be at boat show but will be at flea market early sun. So ill see ya there for sure then watch some racing I think
I'm going to try to get there early but I don't know how it's going to work out. I have some creative planning going on. It's a good 45 min. to 1 hr drive for me. Hay Jim did you ever hear of a BLACK BOX? It's 8:00 on
Friday night and the wind is blowing. I bet it would be good for drift fishing. Winds blowing at 50 knots. You could cover a lot of ground in a short time.
Black Box?? Nope never:rolleyes:
It's suspose to be a magical fish attracting device. All the major stores ( Bass Pro, Cabelas, etc.) sell it or a version of it. It's powered by your 12 v dc battery. It attaches to the stern or a few other ways. It's function is to alter the electrical charges around your boat. Ther are several ways that you can hook it up. One way is to hook it up around your downrigger wire. It looks like a small loop (coil) that goes around the downrigger line. It has wires the hook up to the Black Box. You can dial in a certain amount of voltage for a selected species of fish. It's a very interesting concept. The book is interesting. Now I peaked your interest along with the other 18,000 that view this site. :D
Is that all on that positive ion stuff capt? I am not sure if it works or not it all sounds good. I would like to see proof that's not advertising. You should buy it put it on new boat and test it for all of us. LOL. Ill be in lockport about 8 am I think tomorrow.
fishon51 - I take it that you do not believe in it? A few years ago I was on a Charter in the Gulf off of Sarasota Fla. The captain said that we were over fish and we started catching them. He kept fiddling with something. This was before I even heard of a Black Box. I asked what it was and he just gave me some kind of off the wall answer. It could have been one. ?? Yeah I know that was salt water and this is Lake Erie but anything is possible. I hope the guy that you know has some input on this site to help us.
i never heard of the black box so i went and read about it i would have to see it to believe it maybe it better for deeper water the boat show was cool the boats dont change that much just the prices lol
Not sure if you still need info on this, I have not been online for a while and just saw this post. Back when I was deciding on a chip to buy I labored over the same problem, which chip to get. I was unsure whether to buy the gold or the hotmaps. I ended up getting the hotmaps premium and am very happy with it, the eastern basin does have high definition so you can see a lot. I did contact navionics about the chips and here is his reply, I'm pretty sure my chip shows a us/canada line on it.
Thank you for your inquiry. The HotMaps Premium East provides the U.S. Lake Erie coverage that you see listed in the OH listing. It also provides all of the lakes in the listing. The Gold marine charts are marine charts are for coastal waters and Great Lakes. While the marine charts are designed primarily for navigation, the HotMaps are designed as fishing maps. I have attached screen shots of Lake Erie from both types of charts. The 1XG is the US Gold marine chart, with an M.S.R.P. of $199.00. The PREM-E6 is the HotMaps Premium, with an M.S.R.P. of $149.00. If you need both Canadian & US coverage from the Gold, that chart (2XG) has an M.S.R.P. of $249.00. I hope that you find them helpful.
You do not indicate which GPS plotter that you are using. The plotter and chart must be compatible. There is information available about GPS plotter compatibility on our website, http://www.navionics.com/Default.asp, at the following link: http://www.navionics.com/LakeCompati..._HMPremium.asp.
If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
It was goodto meet up with captjoe and fishkiller today definitely have to get together when not in crowded time consuming place. We did get a few new blades at flea market today. Jim I must say as far as prostaff people go your for sure good for the torpedo co. You take the time and even willing to product users on the water. Nice to see.
Well that was the first time I went to a LOTSA flea market. It was interesting. It was great to see Fishkiller and Bailey there. There was much informtion passed along to each other and many different types of equipment to consider. Jim you had to be beat by the end of the day. You are probably question and answered out. You will have some time to rest up until the next show.
WNYGUY - I was hopeing to see a both from Lowrance there and ask questions about the maping options. But there was no one there. When I look at a WEST Marine catalog ther are HotMaps Premium, HotMaps Platium, Navionics Platinum+, Navionics Gold. I guess that I have a problem distinguishing the characteristics of each and what options each have to offer. Maybe there will be a booth at the Hamburg Shoe to ask thers questions and actually see the difference of each.
yyou will be question and answered out for a while.
capt i aiways seen a lorwance guy at the hamburg show and he had some units set up to look at
I am thinking sat next week i will be in hamburg for show. But maybe try to fish if long range forecast is right. Think it will be early spring snd that is ok by me except it messes with the hunting.
The SBH lists an opening date of 5/15, but they often put the docks in a little earlier if the weather is good. Do the docks at Sturgeon go in earlier (typically)? What launch facility near Buffalo opens first?
Thanks for the info. Fishon51.
Alaskan Joe - Sturgeon Pt. also has a listing of opening up on 5/15. Although last year they postponed it for a while. I believe it was due to them dredging the harbor. Who knows this year.?? I believe that Erie Basin Marina opens 5/1. That's the first one that I know of. There is also one public launch at the foot of Ontario St. in Buffalo. It's on the Niagra River - that's open all year as far as I know. It's unattended and that the only downside. It's close to Strawberry Island (musky) and the channel (perch)
Sturgeon dredges every year. We used to be able to launch while they were dredging but some a$$hole didnt lift their motor and hit the suction hose and cut it in half. So no more launching while dredging.
the sbh doesnt open tiil 5/15 but i launch out of there at the end of april before also i left there to walleye fish in first part of may when they put the ramps guys start launching and nobody says anything i never got a ticketeither
I just heard from a reliable source that the harbor has more sand in it this year because of the lack of ice on the lake. They are contracting the dredging out. They have to get heavy artillery to clean it out.
Just looked at lakevision.com wow pretty wild to see erie kickin up. I wouldnt want to get caught out there when a big blow kicks up. Man this weather is wild cant believe what mid south is dealing with. Kinda glad to live where we do .
I went by the launch at Hamburg Beach the other day (this is for residents only) and you would not believe the sand that has blown in by their launch area. Where the poles are for the floating docks the sand bar is WAY past where they end. I have never seen it like that before. I went by Sturgeon Pt. Marina also - the surf was up. I couldn't see the sand in the harbor because there were white caps in the harbor.
I found another good idea and if i can find link to show it with better info i will. It sounds good to me. All you do is replace spinner blades with small spoons on harnesses. Its supposed to add a wobble with the spin plus trigger better fish to hit. Ill be trying it in spring for sure. If any of you find info on this please share your link to it..
http://archives.in-fisherman.com/con...oomer-spooners. ... here is one link i found or at least url. Great concept.
Very interesting. It sounds good.
I have heard that some big jumbo yellow perch come out of your area. Can you guys reccomend a good charter in your area for me to bring my wife and kids up for a weekend to catch some monsters in the ny area. Also whats the limit up there. Thanks
