I will be too. Best guess right now based on what I saw last weekend and reports since then is to go west a few miles and start looking anywhere from 65 to 85 fow. Assuming of course they haven't moved again. If the screen is blank, just keep going further West and deeper if you don't find them. At least that's what has worked for me. I haven't found any giant schools like were there last year, just smaller ones spread around during the few times I have been out. Seems like others on here have had better luck at times, though. Anyone else?
thx for the info nate I was gonna go to dunkrik but there is a tournament it will be crowded
jeff
Jeff-From sp head West, in front of the state park beach area, start at 68'. Good luck!
You're welcome Jeff, hope it helps you catch some fish. Thanks also to Stiksave and Captain for their thoughts because I will be out there searching too! With the tournaments a lot of people are tight-lipped, but there are so many fish out there and I really feel more than half the battle is just finding the schools. So I've always appreciated when people have been able to help me out on here as well with location. Otherwise you're just covering a lot of ground and maybe getting one or two here or there.
Going out a couple times in July off Buffalo I managed to get a few decent walleyes in the box each time, but it was more random luck finding small schools. In August it just seems like there haven't been many consistent large schools or patterns set up off Buffalo. Guys at Sturgeon have consistently said that the fish never really made it up that far, so they are just a bit west. That's where I found them last weekend. But again they were spread out a bit it seemed. Usually you can just head straight out of Sturgeon this time of year and they would be easy to find because all the boats would be there too!😜 The lake is also a bit colder than typical for this time of year, not by too much but it does make you wonder. Fishing always seems better when the lake is at its warmest, like it was back in July, maybe because it concentrates the fish better. Just some random thoughts on my part.
Fished out of Dunkirk yesterday 80-100 fow kept 10 eyes(16-24") & had 4-5 short throw backs. Then fished for lakers caught 14 & 1 steelie in 1.5 hrs had a hard time keeping 2 lines in the water. Was a fun day!
Fished out of the Catt to Dunkirk 2 man box. 85 fow down deep. 300 copper and dipsey on braid set at 3 230 back. Worm harnesses.
Managed finally a 2 man box full of bigger fish out of Dunkirk. Dipsys and 9-10 color in 95-105' ranging our program 50'-75' down. Sticks and harnesses.

Limited out with Steve Luterak and perfection fishing
We got 11 out of the Catt. 70" to 80". Some east, some west of the Catt. Nice day fishing with my son. He wet bar of soaped one over the side. LMAO. Just bought a Rapala electric filet knife off of eBay, Nice tool. Made cleaning a quick chore.
Nice report jerky. Have any info to share?
Capt Steve was at 190 and 191 wave points. All on chartreuse worm harnesses , on downrigger at the bottom, with magnum dipsey 125' of line. Had 15 but had to throw 3 back as we were reeling in our lines
Good day out of Dunkirk. Fished out of Marcia Ann with Captain Eddie. 15 walleye, no junk fish, 100 to 107 ft of water, 9 & 10 color lead core, downriggers, and deep six divers. We didn't see much on the screen but what the heck. All worm harnesses, all different colors.
Went out sp again today went west to 72-75fow got 7 from 7:30-9 got one from 9-12 worm harness green, blue white pink worked best lost some at the boat a lot of misses great weekend of fishing for us
Jeff
Everyone caught fish this weekend, well except for Bailey:)
Went out of the Catt saturday and sunday, fished center road to Dunkirk, 80 to 95 FOW, fished 60 to 65 feet down with harnesses. Boxed 12 each day. Watermelon and any combination of pink/puple/black on copper colorado blades worked. Looking forward to the holiday weekend!!
Fished out of Catt yesterday (Wednesday). Straight out and east we filled our 2 person box by 12:30 only fishing with the chop. 9-10 color, sticks worked better in 75-80'. 5 or6 throwbacks.
Nice going! We have been doing well on the lakers lately . Good fighters!
Fished out of Dunkirk this morning. Got 11 in 3 hrs. One 8lb, seven 15" - 19" and 3 too small to keep. 100 - 105 ft suspended 65 feet down. Black and silver worm harnesses.
Fished out of SP, started trolling around Evangola, ended up west of Center road. Got 9 walleye, 3 throwbacks, 3 perch, 1 silver bass, many hits? Nice to to finally get out there.
Fished out of Dunkirk yesterday. 10 walleye, 1 throwback. Nice day on the pond. Probably the calmest day of the year.
Am I the only one fishing? Nobody else is posting? And I ain't fishing all that much. Fished out of SP west 7 miles. Had continuous action from start to finish. 13 walleye but only 6 keepers, 3 perch, one silver bass, and one heavy, big, sheep head.
We have been fishing but targeting lakers, they are good fighters & lots of fun catching. If a walleye would fight like a laker we would have the perfect eating , fighting fish. Plan on fishing Mon. am for both out of Dunkirk.
Fished out of the Catt on Saturday with my son. 7 keepers 16 to 28 inches, one shorty, one lost at the boat, one silver, and a bunch of short hits on harnesses. After that we put Rapalas and rinoskys on dipsys. They were hugging bottom in 80' to 85'. took 4 on the stickbaits. Beautiful day on the water. This back end of summer has been the best fishing we've experienced. Finally, no wind or rain on the weekend.
Fished Dunkirk on Saturday with everyone else. Most boats were off of Purina. We stayed south/west of the pack. 6 keepers, 2 throwbacks. Stick baits and harnesses. 80-100 fow.
Fished out of Dunkirk yesterday, started at 9:00am and had a two man limit by 12:00pm. worm harnesses in 96 foot, fish 70 to 80 feet. Great day.
Fished out of Sturgeon Point west about 7 / 8 miles. Just west of the Catt. Started fishing about 9:00 am by 10:00 am I had my one man limit. I was by myself. Fished all 3 rods with dipseys and Bay Rat sticks. 5 of the 6 came off the Ultimate Blue Buda stick. ( Oh boy I can feel someones head getting big - aka Fishkiller ) The other one off a green Bay Rat stick. This was the fastest limit I ever got. :) Thank you Walleye Gods! Beautiful out there.
awesome joe when the fishing is great I'm the busiest lol
jeff
This won't go down as a news flash but I was out of Dunkirk yesterday and had a limit in 2 hours. 85 fow, worm harnesses, Walker diver set #2, 110' back. First fish 6 pounds then they fell off to the low 20" range but that was OK with me. You should be out there boys.
Fished out of SP today. Look at the time of this post. I'm home already. Boxed out by 9:00 am. Started maybe around 7:45 am. / 8:00. I couldn't even get my 3rd pole in the water. Busy all the time. What a great day.
Awesome joe what fow were you in headed that way Saturday morning
Jeff
Went solo out of the Catt last night. Boated 9 in just under an hour. Switched to spoons to try for a laker and couldn't get away from the eyes. Boated 23 from 5-7:15. Only 3 shorts most over 20". 80-90 fow down deep.
I started in 71 ft and trolled with the waves to 80 ft. I had continuous action using dipseys. Two each side. One side we had worms. The other Bay Rat sticks. Both sides were catching fish. The Ultimate Blue Buda worked better than the green Bay Rat. Oh boy there goes Fishkiller's head getting bigger again.
Good Luck.
thx for the info joe
