Trolled for 4 hours yesterday afternoon/evening without a single bite. Not how I wanted to start the season. Anyone getting out? Catching?
Was out Friday morning, good pack of boats but didn’t see one net get picked up. Nothing anywhere, couldn’t even mark any on the graph.
Still off to a slow start. Got out Sat morning and fished the windmills from 25 - 40 fow. Only got one. Is anybody getting daytime fish?
I talked to a few people its been slow
jeff
We picked up 5 Sat. behind the windmills. And lost one. One was about 8.5 lbs. The scale was bouncing around. It was a little rough. It was a good weigher for the Derby that starts next Sat. BUT we gotta get another next week during the Derby. We were in 42 to 37 ft. of water. I had 60 deg on the surface. All on worm harnesses. Just so everyone knows the Derby is on check out Southtowns Walleye web page for the info.
Got 7 last evening behind the windmills. The first 2 in 40 fow and then closer to sunset got 5 in 30-35 fow. Color didn't seem to matter
good luck to everyone in tournament
jeff
Slow morning. Only managed 1 in four hours behind the windmills
Picked up 3 Sat. One was a throwback. Got engine issues ( to be continued ) started hearing a knock in the engine at about 4,000 rpms. But it would come and go???
any weighers joe time for a new boat? lol
jeff
No weighers. This boat is just getting broken in. Bad choice of words. But you know what I mean.
Looking to head out this weekend for the 1st time this year. Should we stay around the Buffalo area or head down to Barcelona? Any advice on what to use and depth? Thanks
I haven't fished Barcelona in a couple years, so I don't know if that's a better option. There are a lot of fish around Buffalo. Got out for a few hours this evening. Started behind the windmills in 35-37 fow, tons of fish on the screen but no bites. Moved out to 45-47 fow and got 6 in about 2 hours. Worm harnesses right on the bottom at 1.2 mph. Good luck wherever you go. Let us know how you do.
Thanks will do, taking my daughters boy friend out with me. He has never caught a walleye.
I heard they were doing decent out of dunkrik
jeff
Was out this morning, very SLOWWWWWW!! only 3 fish, one weighed just over 9 lbs (no we are not in the tournament), nothing on sticks, fish came on different color harnesses and 1 big 5 lb sheepshead. Not sure where all the walleye are?
Well the engine knock turned out to be not so bad. Could have been worse. The transducer cracked off the bracket and at certain times would get caught in the backwash of the prop and hit the transom. Well now for the fishing that hasn't been to good either. Although my partner and myself did make the board with two fish the fishing has been very spotty. Got skunked yesterday ( Sun.) and only a hand full for the Derby. But we didn't go out until I had the noise figured out. And then we navigated by the map. There has been so much east, northeast wind that many believe the fish scattered. But I say " To Where?"
We fished for the first time this year on Saturday. Launched from SP and headed west. Stayed on the east side of the pack of boats off the Catt. Caught 5 plus a nice perch. 4 of the 5 on the same jointed yellow and orange stick with 3 colors out. 60 fow.
that’s good news joe nothing major
I am volunteering in a veterans fishing event friday out of Dunkirk can anyone give me an idea what to prepare for ? I usually troll cranks and spoons but should i take the downriggers ? I have harnesses but for the past few years haven't needed to tie them on should i be getting them ready ? thanks in advanced I plan on fishing thursday afternoon to get familiar with the area.

Went out Mon and Wed evening for about four hours each time. Only managed to catch 4 & 3. Caught on worm harnesses on the bottom in 40-52 fow. Suspended baits never got a bite. Based on the screen I think there are plenty of fish, they just aren't biting. Anyone else catching that can point me in the right direction?
i heading out tomorrow morning out of sp i will report back i heard the bite is slow around buffalo i guess dunkirk is doing ok
jeff
got to sp at 630 am today looked rough decided not to go a few boats turn around and came back in a few decided not to launch
jeff
I went out today Jeff, 3 sh!tt heads, 1 walleye. It was rough. 2 to 3 footers. Fell off the dock after coming in.
I went out today. 1 footers yeah right. They were 2 to 4 footers. At least that's what i believe. Went out of Safe Harbor, South gap, towards the line. Passed the anchored Coast Guard ship anchored in the lake. We picked up 7 walleye and 2 sheepheads. It was s l o w but got one here and there. Didn't see much on the screen but a few here and there. I think that the dog leg on the line was the best. Where did you hit the drink stiksave?
When I climbed out of the boat when we docked to put it on the trailer. I have peripheral Neuropthy , so my balance sux at times. All good, just embarising.
Fished out of Dunkirk tonight and did a little better. Very similar to Buffalo, we marked a lot of fish but didn't get many bites. Fished just west if Van Buren in 50-80 fow. Ended up with 6, all caught between 830 and 945 in 50-60 fow
Not a good report today. 2 walleye, one large one about 8.5 lbs. Trolled the line fro the bend to the condos and back. Didn't mark a whole lot of fish. Had harnesses out , bay Rats & Rynoskis. Got the big one on Rynoski.
only managed one on a bottom bouncer with an orange/gold stickbait I started at condos trolled west 53-56 fow I tried everything marked a lot no luck
jeff
fished noon till 5 today out of sp east west nort south two sheepshead threw everything at them
jeff
bite was slow yesterday 7-11am purple willow leaf harness on a dipsey took most hits hooked 5 and had another six short strikes up to the rear hook. never moved a rigger. just west of the bend in 50-60fow . lots of bait and hooks but not a lot of willing participants.
Go west. Fished out of Dunkirk again this evening and got a two man limit in just over 2 hours including an 8 and a 9 pounder. West out of the harbor in 70 fow. Half were suspended at 40 ft and the other half were on the bottom. Had four different color harnesses out and they all caught fish.
