Mentor Lagoons Perch
Friday, 08/07/09
Fished 51 fow straight off Mentor Lagoons. Slow but steady bite. Fish seemed to have moved from areas around Chagrin. Finding minnows was tough but managed. Some bait stores seem to be selective as to who the sell minnows to when they are scarce. I will no longer do business with the store on the southeast corner of lakeshore and erie rd(without mentioning store name) again.

There are two bait shops at that location: Erieshore Bait & Beverage (southeast corner) and Northcoast Beverage & Tackle (northwest corner in shopping plaza).

Perch-off bottom
Friday 8/14 51fow off Shorgate Towers 60 keepers 4hrs 6-8' off bottom, many throwbacks.
Saturday 8/15 50 fow off Americana 60 keepers 3hrs bottom up 10'.
Both days very light bite, minnows were mini-minies put 2-3 per hook, more productive than just 1.

Sunday 8/16
Went out Sunday morning for perch - 50fow, almost straight out from the stacks. Got a late start, didn't start fishing until 9am or so. Good bite until 11am, then it shut down. 22 in the box. Mostly 9"-11". Right on the bottom. Used frozen minnows I saved from last spring.

Perch @ 43'
Today, 8/28/09
Fished 43' off of Sandcrest, marked fish on the way to Mentor Lagoons and figured we would give it a try. It was a great idea.
7 person limit 7:45-12:15. Many small fish in the mix but it was up and down.
Lake had alight chop with big rollers from N.E., on and off showers, but a great day of perchin. Had 3-first timers with us and it won't be there last.

chagrin perch
Did well in 48ftw between the CEI stacks and Shorgate towers. Limited out in about 2 1/2 hours. Threw quite a few small ones back. Constant bite the whole time. Couple sheephead, white bass, and a big catfish in between.
