I think it's a great idea. I have suggested using smart phone texting as a means to communicate on the water but it didn't create much interest. Keep us in the loop and I will help if I can

Thanks for all of the feedback... I see that there are some other apps that are similar to what I envision... because it would be a work in progress, I would offer it for free... it would be a winter project to help keep me sane and would only encompass the Western & Central Basin of Erie (I am thinking)... I have no idea how long it would take as I am doing it pretty much on my own, and not sure how endepth it will be. The goal is to not use much data, and definitely no sponsor ads, etc. I just pulled my boat back from the lake last night. Going hunting now, but anticipate starting it after Thanksgiving... I would hope to have a prototype before the jig bite starts in the spring... so hopefully more to come.
