What is H Can ? I hear all these C can H can etc. I'm not sure of what they are. I'm pretty new to Lake Erie fishing and been limited to the islands and surrounding area.

here is a link to a map that has the cans that you are interested in, the cans mark the firing range for Camp Perry. A, B & C cans are on the top just follow them around the firing range in order.

So, do you have to be aware of flying cannon balls and things ? lol
I do hear radio chatter about live fire. Is it something that is only fishable during scheduled hours ?
Thanks for the link. Sorry, newby here.Rookie Perch fisher, veteran Perch eater.

This is best map of the firing range I have seen. I believe most of the off limit announcements refer to zone 1. (rifles instead of cannon balls
) Believe they say that actually. Anyone that can help confirm that?

Actually the outer range was used primaily for anti aircraft practice, they would fly drones out over the lake and fire anti-aircraft flack shells at the drones in bursts of 3, Aries corporation was the primary tester in the 70's for the flak shells and boardered along the west side of Camp Perry. It was loud and would give you a headach over the course of the day. The outer danger zone along the line of A, B and C Cans has been moved in some and are marked by the smaller cans that runs in a line across flatrock reef that is marked on the map. The outer cans A, B & C are still in their proper place and marks where the government boundry of the firing range extends but is not used very often. So there are actually 3 danger zones 1 small arms then 2 for whatever and finally 3 that extends all the way out ot A, B & C cans. I bet that anyone fishing in the outer boundry would soon leave after the first burst of anti-aircraft shells and that hot flack came falling back to the lake. DIDN'T MEAN TO HIJACK Waterdogs thread!
