10/25 Huron
We got there about 4 in the afternoon. Didn't have to wait very long for a ramp but I could tell it had been a zoo earlier, as trailers were parked on the grass.
We headed NE from the lighthouse. Saw marks at about 43 fow and put down our 6 lines there.
2 bandits at 90 and 120 unassisted. 2 smaller cranks with 2oz weights: 40/40 to 60/60. One of the small cranks was a tan hot-n-tot I had been wanting to try. And we had a black spoon and a brown/green spoon behind tru-trips. They were anywhere from 45 to 70 feet back. All lines caught.
We only had about 2 or 3 hours of daylight to work with and it wasn't looking very encouraging. After 90 minutes we had only caught 2 white bass.
But once the sun set, we got a few walleyes. Just nice eater size. When it was too dark to see the planer boards, we reeled up - and there were 3 more walleyes. That was fun.
So 6 eyes in under 3 hours. That's pretty good for us.

10/26 Update
We fished out of Huron again Monday morning. Went right back to where we caught them last night, but there were no marks there. So we kept driving NE. We finally marked a few, maybe 3 miles east of the outer Huron dump. We trolled in the same NE direction. Got one right away and lost another at the net. Then the marks thinned out. Eventually, the water starts to get shallow again up there (43-ish). I stayed on that bering way too long before finally turning around and heading west toward that dump.
As the water got deep again (49-ish) we started marking more and eventually started catching again. There were a couple dozen boats trolling within sight of the dump. We saw a lot of net action around us, and there was enough there to keep us happy for a few hours. We ended up with 14. Half of them were 21, 22 and 23". Only one small 17 incher. We just kept looping around between the SE corner of the dump and 2 miles east of there.
The good lures were flicker minnow 11 with purple and red, spoons with brown, mini black-head wonderbread bandit, tan hot-n-tots. We ran pretty deep at first because the marks were mostly near bottom, but that's when we weren't catching. Later when we had more suspended marks (typically around 30 fow), we raised them higher in the water column.
I'm experimenting this fall with lure color. I have a lot of lures with bright greens and chartreuse and these do great in the spring and early summer. However, this fall I haven't caught anything on those. So I'm using dull colors now: browns and tans and flat black. My thinking is that bright green is unnatural in the fall. Green leaves turn to brown. Grasshoppers and praying mantises that are bright green in early summer are faded brown now. This seems to be working for me but it could just be coincidence.
