Default Canadian commercial netters having difficulty catching walleye

Went up to our lake house this weekend. Talked to neighbor and he tells me he went over to Port Clinton fisheries to buy some fish.Bought 4 lbs of yellow perch but tells him has no walleye to sell.I think that's odd that walleye capital has no walleye to sell.Go to jolly Roger today to bring dinner home to family.Talk to Mike the manager I know there. He tells me his supplier told him he is having difficulty getting enough walleye to sell to his customers lately. Now, I have been reading of all the great walleye fishing from Catawba to Ashtabula for the last couple months. But the Canadian netters are not catching enough walleye now. With the string of great hatches and great fishing in US waters what could that mean.Is it a one time weather event causing the fish to migrate differently? I know the cold windy spring kept water temps unusually cold this spring, then water warmed rapidly since start of summer.Or could the decades of huge walleye harvests on the Canadian side depleted the stock of fish that instinctively migrated through the Canadian waters? Interesting to hear what their biologists say and what plays out.

This reply is probably too political, but....
Maybe, it's just the Canadians saying....we will not sell to the US. Just at thought...I can't say that I would blame them.

well I think the fish are staying close this year I'm catching plenty of big walleye in 20 to 30 fow close to my marina. Usually this time of year I'm fishing the 35 to 42 north to find fish. I went there Friday to have a slow pick of fish and smaller fish. Saturday it was donkey kong and sunday a slow steady pick of 20 to 27 inch fish less than a mile off shore. If they have fish to sell and were willling to buy it they would sell. Why is it they can net and we cannot Thats not fair. Just corrupt politicians selling us out. Them damn canadians tried to take the lake from us.
