Re: This Old Boat!
GREAT ! I looked at the lake erie web cam for Huron and it was open water also it won't be long now maybe a couple of weeks . I also ordered some bandits from a local bait shop and a couple more Daiwa wilderness trolling rods they also had the Daiwa trolling reels so that should get us going set and up with 4 rigs and a good selection of crank baits .

Re: This Old Boat!
We use cross lock snaps with cranks but use swivels on spoons and harnesses.
IMHO swivels interfere with the action of crank baits but swivels help prevent line twist if spoons or harnesses role. Also we find a higher hook up ratio on spoons when they are on swivels.Mike

Thanks this article above from precision trolling shows how to calibrate your reel for accurate depths. I am so glad you gave the recomendation to view , I was just about to spool up my line and would have made the mistake of cutting off the spool before calibrating .
I also down loaded the precision trolling guide and from what I have seen and read it looks like its probably one of the least expensive but very important addition so far to the trolling world .

Yeah I watched a few boats head out Huron yesterday.Nobody posted fishing except a post on 10 trailers in the lot.Do not think any other ramps open yet.Still too much ice west of islands.
