    Have been from 3 to 6 found 5 to b best cause of 6 ft rods...but like u said no diff in bite ratio...do think 5 over the 3 is better ..have had more on the longer than short....

    At least 6'. Do not be afraid to try longer and thinner if the bite is poor/spooky!
