    Having a good GPS takes all the guesswork out of navigation. You punch in your starting point with a waypoint number so you have something to target on your way back. If you find a really hot spot you may want to tag it with a waypoint number. I have a color Lowrance unit and mark every walleye caught with an icon. A pattern will develop so you can rerun that same course if things slow down. Different icons for different days. A different icon for steelheads. A good GPS unit is vital to successful fishing and safe boating.
