Wnyguy, shouldn't really have to pull outdrive off to replace just the waterpump/impeller, just remove lower part of it. That is at least on a merc.or yamaha I know.

Lineman you are right however I wanted to pull the drive because just replacing my impeller/pump case is a best case scenario. I also wanted to check things over in case anything else was bad (ie back flush all seawater passages), and I'm overdue for engine alignment check so it was a good excuse. I have a merc 170 with an alpha drive, I'm a member of the "470" club...

Wave height vs wind speed
Today winds WSW @ 16 mph => waves at 3.2' trough to crest (on average).
Biggest waves are when winds are fro W or SW. The other day I was out in 5 foot waves and now my boat leaks like a sieve. Constant sponge work. Any breaks in the wind coming up ?

Milt - sorry to say we bit the bullet Mon. Night. I wasn't sharp, many playing out of position. A recipe for disaster. Regroup and start again. Sorry to day i haven't been out and i have to work the weekend. Fishon when i grow up i want to be like you - Retired and able to get out there when the wind lets you. Good luck to everyone in the 444 and have a good picnic on Sat. I'll get there when i can.

Milt, at night out of sbh I usually troll sticks through mid gap north on wall to the end. Then over to donnleys wall. I make the turn about 100yds from the end and head towards the left side of the roundhouse. The current between there will swing your lines way into shallower water for awhile. Then when I'm almost to the roundhouse I head to the back side of the outer wall. Then back over along the main wall and through the gap again. Or you can try drifting and casting or jigging the far outer wall point with the green light on it. Just make sure whatever you use. Trolling casting or jigging you tip with half a worm. It really makes the difference. I caught an eye in 25fow in the channel last week jigging do they're at all depths.
Good luck everyone. I won't make it out at all this weekend I don't think. Have my little sisters wedding. And most of this week I had the stomach bug and have been laid up in bed. I'm going through fishing withdraws I think already. Lol
