Wishin, Jmo. but if you buy a net I suggest instead of the heavier rubber ones get the one with the coated nylon mesh, they are lighter, the hooks don't get caught & the fish won't bounce out as they sometimes do with the heavy rubber nets. I know the older rubber ones had that problem. Just a thought.

    Default Lake Erie Weather Bouy

Here is a great website for actual conditions on the Lake. This one is for Pt. Colborne.

    Check it out :

Walleyerick, here is another one "Wunderground.com" marine reports you can get near shore & beyond 5mi. reports. Works for Erie & Ontario lakes both. Just click on the bouy #.

I found that wunderground isn't as accurate as http://forecast.weather.gov/ Enter a zip, get the new map, and click on the water, and wham, nice waver/wind report.
I typically check both to see if they correlate. If they do, I know what to expect. If they don't, I tend to choose the better forcast but prepare for the worse one

Good advice, because it's a bit of a crapshoot. In my experience when forecasts have called for one foot waves I turn around about 10 percent of the time because it's too rough for my 18.5' Lund. Didn't even launch a couple of times last year after talking to guys at the marina. Nature of the lake.

    But try this one too

    http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/marin...tationID=45142

If you click on the weather conditions tab and the appropriate place on the map you'll get a report of current conditions recorded at the Port Colborne weather bouy. I think it uses some sort of averaging algorithym because it seems generally to underestimate the height of the waves.

Going to go out for the first time sometime this week. Looking like Wednesday or Thursday. We'll be on the Canadian side and sharing info on the lake frequency.

I have been feild testing a new netting by ranger for the last 2 seasons its a flat bottom net thats rubber dipped its hook and tangle free. Its model # 471RRFB its the best net I have used yet. Its the perfect depth on me 25" hoop with a 12' handle.
