Barcelona 8/2
Hello all. Is anyone interested in sharing information in the Eastern Basin? There are no.posts to speak of. We enjoy it and help each other regularly in the Central and Western Basins. I have fished in Ohio the past 6-7 years. There are plenty of fish to be had by all these days.
I live in the Southern Tier of NY and fished Barcelona yesterday for the first time. We got our 3 man limit and it was a perfect day on the water. If anyone is interested let me know. I am more than happy to share the details and talk fishing.
Tight lines and safe fishing to all 🎣

Re: Barcelona 8/2
I remember many years ago going out of westfield / barcelona. Would go one or two miles out and 7 miles east and fish for smallmouth drifting with tube baits. Big boulders on the bottom. It was a great time because a smallmouth on spinning real with 8 lb test is a challenge. Not sure if the smallmouth fishing is still good there. If I knew it was still good in that area I might start going there a few times a year. I'm from the Dover / New phila. area in Ohio so it is a long drive 3 1/2 Hrs. I usually go out of Huron or Geneva for walleye once a week and is a 2 Hr drive.

Hey Verno. I haven't done the smallies in a few years but you're certainly right that it is a lot of fun. I believe that fishing is still very good in many areas of NY. We used to do the same thing out of Sodus Point. Find the boulders and lots of fish to jig up...pretty much all day long.
If you're fishing Geneva you probably already know that it is on fire there. Many good guys are smashing 2-3 man limits in 2-3 hours. Everything is catching fish...cranks, spoons, harnesses, etc. The Ohio Parks are much bigger than Barcelona for parking and Ashtabula is only about 45 mins farther for me than Barcelona. Love that Geneva/Ashtabula area.
Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

We fished out of North East Marina on Saturday, 8/9. We got a 5 man limit using dispeys. The fish bit on everything, mostly spoons, but we also sent out crawler harnesses, and East End Angler spinners with Gulp minnows. We could only put 4 rods in the water. Fish were biting too quickly. We fished 80' to 120' FOW. The walleyes were down 50' to 70' deep. Fish lengths varied from 17" to 25". Kept all walleye we dragged up from that depth, as the barotrauma will get them even if they swim off after release. We even sent a downrigger down to 100' and caught a couple lake trout.

Great report, great job and congrats! What a fishery we get to enjoy these days. We fished different depths but ended up finding a good school in 85-100 feet. It was a little odd as all the fish were only 20-35 feet down that day. I ran all bandits. Some unassisted and some with 2 oz snaps.
I hope to get out again next week. Will post results. Thank you for sharing!
