    Default Geneva - Anyone Casting?

Heard the trolling bite has been good out of Geneva between 40-50 fow. Anyone back this up and/or been trying casting gold harnesses?

trolling bite can't be better. 45 to 60 ft. of water. lots of people drifting and casting also, and getting limits. it's like that all the way to Conneaut right now. have fun and tight lines.

PFK is right. Just read the PA report on FishUSA and it’s the same all the way to Erie. Guys are reporting they think it’s the best year to date. 1-2hrs for multiple person limits. All trolling too. Casting harnesses or snap jigging should work. The old standby Erie Dearie would be the ticket too

Great info as usual, thank you Gents! I have been tied up this spring trying to sell my house and move. Hope to be out there within a couple of weeks! Good luck and safe fishing to you moving forward. 🙂

Whole fam damily and friends vacationed in Geneva Campground from Tuesday - Saturday. I've never experienced a bite like this. Over 4 days we had 132 keepers and countless shorts. We fished NW of the Geneva Marina out to 45-55 fow. Dipsys on 3 setting out 90ft and 1.5 setting out 85. True Trips out the back out 120. All we use are spoons and worm harnesses. Worm harnesses, any color, took the day everyday.

Thank you for the post and that's great news. Congrats! I was just going to ask you guys if anything has changed as it looks like 3 of us will be out there to fish Friday and Saturday. My first trip this year which is abnormal. I'll bring harnesses but prefer bandits if they are hitting them. I assume they are but will see I guess. I'll post what we do🙂

I made a mistake: We did NOT use harnesses, but worm-burners! My fauly. We did try a bandit out the back one day. 50 ft then 2oz then 100 back. It caught a few.....but nothing compared to the worm-burners

No worries and thank you for clarifying. You mentioned a lot of shorts. In the past there I have experienced fish kind of schooling up with fish if similar sizes . It'll be interesting to move around shallow to deeper and see what's there. Did you catch a good mixed bag with some bigger fish? How fast were you trolling ..maybe 2.5? Water is pretty.clewr I assume? Thanks again!

It was strange, on Wednesday, 7/2 the grade wasnt all that good, most betwen 16 and 20". That day we spent in 45-50 fow. Next day, we fished deeper (50-55) and the fish got bigger. We got a 27" that day and most were 18 and up. Water is beautiful, 75-78 degrees on surface and we stayed between 2.0 and 2.5. Thursday the 4th was the best day, we stayed out in 55-62 and all the fish were over 18. I dont think we threw any back that day. My buddy was adamant we stay under 50 for and IDK why......and we caught a handful of drum in that shallow. We spoke with guys fishing all the way out to 65 fow and getting limits.

I've never seen fish like this before on the sonar........especially in 55+ A constant stream suspended and on bottom.

We met a retired fella and his wife from Minnesota staying in the campground for 10 days. We spoke with him daily and he told us with his accent, "Fellas, I hate to break it to you, but this ain't fishin', this is takin'." He said it would take him 3 days up north to catch 12 walleye. He had to go to Walmart to buy another freezer for all the fish!

Thanks for your report Nick. We too went out of Geneva on Friday the 4th, had the boat in the water at 5:30 am and went NE to 49 FOW and began trolling North. Two man limit in an hour and a half. Several 25" and one 27". Like you, we marked a steady group of fish at 30' for a solid hour or so. It really is an incredible fishery we have!
