Loraine 9/17-9/18
Fished out of Hot Waters 50' water... Dumping grounds to the Border and East side of the Vermilion Sandbar. Toughest fishing in 20 years. Fish were there....good bait balls too. Trolled everything accumulated over the last 2 decades. Managed 3 keepers 24" to 29". A lot of throwbacks 141/2". No junk fish. Fish were at 44' to 48' with lockjaw. I can only imagine what will happen in the next week or so if the wind, temperature and moon cooperate. Dipsy's took most of the fish.#1 80', #2 110' wolverine spoons gold backed with orange, Renosky minnow baits copper n gold. Tried all of the top names on the Dipsy's Bandits, Sprows, Husky jerks, Smithwick Rogues, Perfect 10's....to no avail. Fished the water column from 17' to 44'. Jets with spoons from 70 to 125'...small fish only. Two tired old men at the end of Saturday.

Re: Loraine 9/17-9/18
Ended up with just the 3. Fished on NE edge of dumping grounds. Caught a nice fish on first cast with 1 oz. Silver Big John, then nothing for an hour. Set my 2 Dipseys and before the second one was down, hooked a 6 pounder on a 20 year old ice blue Huskyjerk. Got a nice eater then lost a huge hog at the boat, all on the ice blue, then bugs finally drove me off. I was the only one to bring walleye into Baumhart cleaners yesterday.
Marked fish and clouds of bugs everywhere. Still heave algae in the water. Will it ever get right?

Fished yesterday on North edge of dumping grounds from 4-7 and got 3. All 3 were up high, above 20 feet. They had big bellies, full if shad. Lots of miggies.
