I left this reply for you in another thread.

I would stay with a 6 to 6.5 ft medium action rod in a 16 ft boat! The boards I would upgrade to the snapper release that you have mentioned. I feel that you would be better off assembling your own snap wts as you will most likely be using mostly 1 and 2 oz wts. You can buy several snaps with retainer rings and have spare wts. ready to go and not have several heavier wts that you most likely will never use taking up valuable space in your rig. I have included a link for the boards at a reasonable price.

Here are 2 sites that sell the releases I use for snap wts.

You can easily fashion your own Tattle Tail flags from this!

So, does the taller rod holder position the second rod over the shorter rod holder/rod? I don't have a wide flat surface like your boat, my first set are short like yours so I should be ok. If this trolling thing works out as planned, I will put a second set next spring.

Wakina - What snap wts do you use then with those snap & rings?

I need to almost get out with someone to see how all this works or I'll be buying crap I'll never use.

I don't target the big girls any more so I use them infrequently. I use what is commonly refered to as bass sinkers that are bell shaped and have the brass wire in the middle. I prefer those when they can be had/found in the proper sizes. Here is what I am talking about.

Mike, I added the extensions to separate the lines a little bit. I suppose just a little more tilt on one would work also, and they worked for me.
