4 man limit
Fished about 2 1/2 miles WNW of rattle snake 29 fow skipper 9 riggs on the bottom 30lbs at the cleaners Had a lot of throw backs and some thrash. It took us some time to get them, but we did. Anchor broke lose off of the hole, took us a little time to get back on it. At the cleaners by 3:30. Had to make the new guy on the boat a believer, in the skipper 9 rig. But when he seen me fishing next to him and catching 3 to 4 to his one he changed and was happy he did so.

skipper 9 rigs
Wakina thank you, I will try these out this weekend. Do you fish this rig with a slack line, just lay it on the bottom or more like a drop shot? I love this site you guys really help out in many ways.
Thanks again

Slack line with a heavy sinker is usually best in my opinion

I like to keep the line as slack as I can but keeping the rig vertical.

I try to keep it just to the point of the line going slack. and then alot of times I just feel extra weight on the line and set the hook.

I use several different approaches to perch fishing to find out what they are interested in at that time. 1. On the bottom with a foot or so of slack and gently lift the rod every few seconds and feel for added Wt. 2. Let the line down to make contact with bottom and maintain a tight line then lift up gently and feel for added Wt. or the peck peck of a perch bite. 3. Let it down to bottom and let it lay for a second then jig it up and down a couple of times then let it lay motionless on bottom again and then start over.
The most important thing if using braid is to not over set the hook. Just a flick of the wrist will do the job, keep a tight line all the way into the boat. Do not admire a large perch with the fish hanging on the outside of the boat. Swing it over the edge so if it comes off it will land in the boat and not back in the water. This is especially true on those light biters.Last edited by wakina; 08-12-2014 at 10:14 PM.
