perching good ssp launch
Out by mcdonalds buoy in 28 feet just off the channel using perch rigs and spreaders minnows cut in half produced more fish however still had bites on whole and the whole minnow produced bigger perch!!! Caught a couple that were near 13 inches we had a 3 man limit weighed 25 pounds on fri and a 4 man limit that weighed 30 pounds on sunday going to try again this afternoon. Most were about 8 to 10 inches. love those perch, not much luck this year on walleye as my boat was in the shop 2 separate times for a total of 3 weeks and missed out on the prime walleye trolling time this year :-(. Forgot to mention that we had tight lines and left the motor running when I turned the motor off perch bites went dead.
Good Luck all

best trolling of the year
You haven't missed the trolling action, you can get your perch
than go out a few miles north east past turn around and the walleye fishing is on fire casting and trolling best of the year.

walleye bite
Want to get out there today, have 2 other guys on board and they want to try for perch, time permitting will try for walleye. Is that the pack of boats I see north of west sister? I've been seeing them all weekend. I thought they were perch fishing. Love to get some more walleyes on board miss those fish

Trolling
YES THAT THE PACK, LOTS OF CASTER IN PACK, HARD TO troll in it but walleyes go all the way out to line, have fun best size o
f season, most are barely hooked and fall off in net/

North along the Canadian border, it was on fire, pretty much all day...
The fish did not 'shut off' Sunday.
NOTE: You did have to work the ative pods of Walleye.
You could not just keep on trolling.
We went back around about 10 times on the same pod of fish.
We were only running 6 rods because we could not keep up with more
When you catch a fish, set a waypoint. If you stop catching them go no more than 1/4 mile and then go back!
I know, it is work to do that, but then again, catching IS the goal!
Green hatchet blades on crawler harnesses worked the best.
speed was about 2.0 before they would bite. 2-2.5 SOG.
TT 40's and bottom bouncers both worked.
The fish were on the bottom. All that is required for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

another great day
went back to the same spot and had our 3 man limit in less than three hours, key was to let the perch rigs lay completely on the bottom 5 count and tighten up the line lots of doubles. So I took the captains advice and we packed up and went by west sister and marked a ton of walleye in big pods but for some reason they had lock jaw (or maybe it was the captains ignorance) but we trolled and drifted and no walleye. Used meat, stick baits, leeches on bottom bouncers etc but no luck on the walleyes. Thanks for the info though, Have to work in Ohio for the next week so I won't be back out on the lake until next tuesday so save some fish for me fellas
tight lines all
