Keel offset
On the Lowrance HDS units there is an area in the settings that allows you to compensate for the location of the transducer. You can either compensate up to the water line [positive number] or down to lowest point on boat [negative]
I have mine offset to the surface. I'm sure other units have this option if you dig through the manual
Its winter, what else do you have to do?
[only time I read the manuals,]

You are correct My HDS unit Does have an offset feature. I never considered that When I made my post about the 1.7 foot Of water. So it would depend on whether you use a feature or not which I never have. thank you for your insight on that matter it was a point well made and a point well taken.

This is a good article and if you read it, you may get some insight as to why nothing ever seems to get done by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. I direct your attention to the last paragraph.

Ouch! Water Low today!
Went up to Port Clinton to work on my boat and drove from Toledo across 2 today. Where Rt 2 crosses Turtle Creek, man the water was low. More exposed mud flats than I ever remember seeing in the fall. It wasn't real windy at all. Don't think it was a south wind, but I really never thought to check since I was just headed to Dubberts.
If this is indicative of what we are in for this spring, not good. We need some water.
On the plus side, I think it was right before I got to Turtle there was a pair of Eagles on a nest in top of trees right along the road (south side). Assume it was the female on the nest, and the male sitting above in the top of the tree. Cool! If you go across there, watch for them. Should be hard to miss.
