Ed-we made it about 1.4mi. east of Acan or L can. Not sure which one it was. I think we were sw of crib reef but pretty close. Wayne all I know is at the end when mike came over to us he showed debbie's ?? big fishes and my customer's jaw dropped and he couldn't fish anymore. I think I need a lesson on how to cast after watching them guys.

Ed did u have any luck? OUr day ended up decent, lots of little eyes which is great to see. We quit counting how many we ended up throwing back. Fun day for sure.

How small are those little eyes? Just curious as a 6 to 10 inch eye would be from last years hatch.

    wakina,
most were 13-15 inches. I personally haven't seen any under 13. Lots of guys are saying they are seeing a lot of 7-9's. I find that impossible b/c last years hatch was horrible according to the " experts in the DNR", lol...If this years hatch comes out good too, we may have 2 or 3 years of average hatches of legal fish next year! Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Although I haven't got to fish for eyes as often as I would have liked so far this year I have caught 3 eyes in the 6 to 8 inch size range. If they are out there they will start to show up more frequently in July and August, I don't know why they don't show up earlier but that is when I usually catch them the most. Those 13 to 15 inch fish are from the 2010 hatch.

I would like to thank you guys for the info on the small walleyes, there seemed to be alot of them last year while perch fishing, they were in the 3 to 4 inch size range then and were about as big around as your middle finger I guess you could say they were about the size of a small to average sized smelt. That tells me that the hatch was probably much better than the ODNR trawls would suggest.

Those small eyes would stay away from their bigger relatives or risk becoming dinner for those bigger eyes.

Saturday we trolled crane creek area all day and must have caught 70 walleyes bad thing for the customers was that most was to small. We had around 20 in the 7-9 inch range and 20 or so in the 13-15 range. Good side is the future doesnt look bad with these small fish.
