maybe you can answer a question for me .. I just got a perch rig in the mail from skipper9 .. what is the loop with the bead for just above the bottom hook ..? I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to duplicate it .. I just need more practice I guess ...

If I understand you correctly?

That loop is the top of the rig the swivel on the bottom is for weight.

what are the knots that create the loops where the hooks are tied ...? I'm assuming the knots that hold the hooks are just palomar knots ...?

That is correct . I start with the top hook tie on the second and third hook then the snap . Then I tie the loop and cut it from the spool
