    Default When to start jigging

jallen, Last year my first trip out was Mar. 27. There's no specific day,but more about water temp. and weather conditions that matter. My rule of thumb is ... if it's nice out go fishing, but that doesn't mean there ready to bite. You will catch fish early season, but you can have long cold days of fishing. An easy way to know when to get on the lake is watch the reports from the guys snagging on the maumee river bragging about getting limits...wait a week and it's on! I like to fish the real shallow the first few weeks until the lake warms a little.

Don't know if you tried this area last year or not, but there was nothing going on there. I tried in the area twice, no fish and no other boats around. Hope it's better this year. That's a lot shorter run for me.

Fish it every year. Had good luck for me it's run out channel, and turn off motor. I fish most days, was harder last year but still productive. I normally only take fish to eat fresh till mid May, give a few away.

I tried the area just west of lake front. couldn't get anything going. Took most of my fish off the reefs. Just a strange year last year for that area. It usually produces, but seemed like the better fishing was west of the area.
