I just bought a Fish Hawk and I looked at Capt Ross Robertson at Bigwater fishing and Fishing 411 with Mark Romanack on their You Tube channels to see what they said, and they both use a half of a trolling rod with a trolling reel that they place in a rod holder and lower the probe down to the depth they plan to run their lures to see what the speed is at that particular depth. I think Ross Robertson said he uses 50 lb braid, but when I asked Fish Hawk Customer service, they guy told me to buy 80 lb braid which I did. I bought a one lb cannonball from Fish Hawk to use with the probe, but I may have to go to a two lb
cannonball.
