It has been a weird season. The fish over here have been where they shouldn’t be this time of year. The big blow out of the east usually shuts us down for a couple days. I have been having issues with my boat, so I haven’t been out much. When everyone is catching there is a lot of posts. I went out for a few hours this afternoon. Not much happening. I was mostly looking for a perch spot for tomorrow. I did one pass trolling. Only a sheephead for my troubles. Marked tons of perch, but only caught 1 little on, and missed a couple.

I second what Davf said, go east!! The past month I've been fishing Geneva, and it's been crazy good.... 2 and 3 man limits in 2 hours or less, and quality fish too. My one buddy who keeps his boat on the Black River in Lorain went out 2 weeks ago and fished for 7 hours and only pulled 1 ticket, nothing over 18". I don't know how far you live from the eastern basin, but it's worth the trip. For me the trip up to Geneva takes longer than it does to limit out. 😂

Fisherman's Wharf has a headboat going out of Vermilion and they've been doing pretty well slow drifting and dragging worms on the bottom before this recent NE blow. The storm should cool the water and fishing improve in a day or two when the water clears.
    If Vermillion doesn't work and
you don't want to go all the way to Geneva, try out of Eastlake. We've been killing em between there and Mentor.

As the water warms we have had to make further runs east to catch fish in the past.So trying Vermillion may be a good idea.My charter buddy has recently changed up trolling harness instead of spoons. So give that a try.Fishing in this prolonged NE winds certainly don't help either.Good luck.

I went out this morning. Started late for me Mostly trying for perch. Slow rolled from middle bass to south of rattlesnake. Almost no walleye marks. By 7:00am perch were schooled up with huge marks. Perched from 7:00-11:00 only caught 4 perch. They were all right around 10”. A couple white bass, and a couple sheep. One of the farm was only 15”, so I added it to the live well. Yes I eat small sheep! Planned on trolling back home. Almost no walleye marks on the way home so I didn’t even set anything out. Probably wait a couple weeks then go hard after the perch again.
